Silicone fluid for Moerch tonearm damping?
"I believe Hudson Audio has been hors de combat for a few years." Not sure what you mean by this - are they out of business??I did hear back from Moerch - from Hans Moerch himself. He didn't answer my questions though, just said to contact Mehran....
Silicone fluid for Moerch tonearm damping?
Happy V-Day, Mofimadness! I definitely plan to listen, and to listen for a while, before I add any damping fluid. I read one post, or review, or something about just adding a drop at a time - but if you add one drop too many... And if you do put i...
TT Power Cord
I know Stringreen - many people swear by the improvement they hear with a change of power cords. My ears just aren't good enough or trained enough or they're just partly/mostly made of tin - I just can't hear it! :-( Now I HAVE experienced a big c...
Silicone fluid for Moerch tonearm damping?
lol - Mehran is definitely a good guy, in my limited experience, never occurred to me that he might be telling me a story about being in Belgium! No response from Moerch (surprise!) or Hudson Audio (another Moerch distributor) so I may have to wai...
TT Power Cord
I have yet to be able to tell any difference between the stock power cords and expensive after-market power cords with ANY of my components. Sigh. Guess that, to my ears, it is all a myth and a way for vendors to make lots of money! lolHolly
Silicone fluid for Moerch tonearm damping?
Well, guess I am on my own with this! If I decide I need to dampen the tonearm after listening to what the system sounds like without it, I will just get the lightest oil (10,000 cst) and go from there.Holly
Removing Morch DP-6 tonearm wires from cartridge
hmm, thought I had already answered this but my post hasn't appeared, so....I am very happy that I was able to successfully remove the clips from the old cartridge and I must agree that I don't want to mess with those little wires anymore than I n...
Tool for measuring pivot to spindle distance?
Thank you for your response here as well, John. Maybe I will set up everything with just a protractor...I did order a good metric straightedge though - cost almost as much as a cheap pair of 12" digital calipers, lol.Holly
Removing Morch DP-6 tonearm wires from cartridge
I managed to get the tonearm wire clips off of the cartridge pins and have removed the old cartridge; still waiting for the new one, but that is progress! The clips were on the pins pretty tightly so it was scarey, but I didn't damage the wires, an...
Removing Morch DP-6 tonearm wires from cartridge
Cool - I have alcohol and q-tips so that is what I will use to clean the pins and contacts. Point taken about tweezers, Doak. :-)Holly
Tool for measuring pivot to spindle distance?
Well, just saw a Dennesen Soundtraktor on the US Audio Mart site that sold for $39 at the end of December! Darn it! And one that sold on eBay for $120, a more likely price. Sounds as if a good metric ruler is what I had best get for the time being...
Removing Morch DP-6 tonearm wires from cartridge
I actually just got one of those plastic RCA connector cleaning tools so I can clean off the interconnect connectors. Cleaning the tonearm headshell wire connectors and pins sounds like a good idea. I am considering getting a tube of Deoxit Gold; ...
Tool for measuring pivot to spindle distance?
Sorry, Mofi and Lewm - for some reason didn't see your posts when I wrote my last one. Mofi has the situation correctly described, and, no, I can't blame him for the unsecured state of the armboard. :-DMofimadness has a Dennesen protractor/Soundtr...
Tool for measuring pivot to spindle distance?
I think I am confusing folks, or I am confused myself, lol, I know what the spindle to pivot distance is supposed to be, just looking for a tool that will give me a reasonably accurate measurement.I have a Teres turntable with the original acrylic...
Tool for measuring pivot to spindle distance?
lol - guess I will just get a better metric ruler/straight edge and hope for the best. :-)Holly
