Best recording Dsd recorder discussion cf http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f15/korg-mr-1-can-used-portable-player-425849/index1.html
Best recording Based on my experience with a Cowon D2 and Creative 24/96 external laptop card as well as the Korg mr1, the Korg is a big step up. Even downsampled with Audiogate from dsd to pcm 24/96, the Korg files sounded better than files recorded with Creati...
Tube amp for "difficult" speakers,,, In the last months, I have been comparing apples and oranges - a small OTL amp on headphones and desktop speakers, and my main Krell/Dynaudio Consequence system. So this is really "micro" versus "macro". I use a Korg MR-1 recorder to record LPs on...
Best recording Lp's not created equal - very much agree! But the better the playback and recording chain, the larger the proportion that sound good or at least acceptable. There is no single best way to record. This is much a matter of subjective taste, context ...
Tube amp for "difficult" speakers,,, Haven't tried them. Can only report back from a Quiksilver monobloc 2 x 60 amp solution, so far. They did not make it, compared to the krell 600, driving the Dynaudio Consequence. Suspect i would need 400 tube watts or more for these speakers.
Best recording VHS hi fi - haven't tried, but my guess is, it would sound poor compared to the Korg. I have tried several DAT recorders. Does anyone have actual experience?
Tube amp for "difficult" speakers,,, Borrowed a pair of Quicksilver 2 x 60 watt p-pull monoblocs from a friend. Didn't make it. Not surprising. These are good amps and didn't sound so openly "strained" - but clearly, they didn't grab the speakers in the full way that the s-state does...
Best recording My vinyl recordings like Grateful Dead Terrapin station sound marvellous through DSD and the Jade otl headphone amp, that also drives my small active pc sony srs z500 speakers. Never got this terrapin / therapy feeling so close before. Jade is ver...
Headphone amp advice I am very satisfied with my new headphone amp Audiotailor Jade. Great sound. It can drive headphones excellently, and even drive small active speakers to new heights. See Jade thread at headfi: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f5/review-audiotailor-j...
Headphone amp advice GK 1-J picture, now uploaded to my mobile system.
Whats on your turntable tonight? For soft listening, try- Jobim: Wave (audiophile speakers corner LP)- Lynne: Just a little lovinAlso, looking forward to Amadou and Mariam: Welcome to Mali, on LP, which I've preordered.
Best recording First test, Studer Revox A77 versus Korg MR1: 0-1.The Revox recordings sounded boxed-in and faulty in many ways. The faults with the Korg were on another, smaller level. Note that, I didn't have new tapes. I found that older tapes performed worst....
Small hi-res player? Have anyone compared Apogee Duet FireWire 96/24 PCM output to the DSD output from the Korg Mr1, recording from vinyl?
Headphone amp advice Sharky, GK 1-J foto: I have it, but haven't uploaded pics to my virtual system yet. It is an unassuming black box, weight ca 200 grams, size 12 cm deep x 9 wide x 5 high. It has two output jacks and a volume knob in front (can used balaned h-phone...
Small hi-res player? Decoding DSD seems to be easy, according to technical papers I've browsed. I have paid for the music (vinyl recordings) I am playing. I bet most audiophiles would fall of their chair if they heard the quality of it, played back on my Jade OTL head... |
