Direct Drive Rumble
DD TTs do have less rumble (theoretically) because they are free of the assymetrical side force on the main bearing found in (most) belt drive TTs.Therefore, assuming high quality bearing design and proper lubrication DDs are essentially free from...
Cable INteracion Question
I was going to mention the connector(s) too, however I assumed the noise was on both channels which would pretty much (not completely) rule that out.The pulsating phenomenon sounds to me like digital "hash" (RFI) coming from your CDP (or DAC). Unp...
Cable INteracion Question
You might want to discuss this problem with someone at SAS, and inquire if the V cable is appropriate for the location in which you are using it. It may be meant for source to preamp applications.
Cable INteracion Question
I'm sorry but I'm not that familiar with the SAS cables. Are they shielded (the Sonoran cables are). Try reversing the orientation of the SAS cables and see if that helps.
Cable INteracion Question
More info needed. At least:Brand and model of both old and new cables.Brand and model of amp and preamp.
digital power cables on preamps
Calling it "digital" doesn't make it go faster :--) In the case of Signal and Element, they are just referring to the fact that those products are shielded (with both foil and braid, though braid alone is usually adequate.)When used with digital e...
Air conditioning a home theater.
Marc, a couple of questions:1.) Was the room adequately cool and comfortable in past summers before the recent conversion? I'm guessing 'yes', because . . . . . . . 2.) There appears to be a fairly large supply register on the wall above your TV. ...
Stand-by on Mark Levinson products
I have an all-Levinson + Wadia system. I leave all the front-end stuff on 24/7 (except for thunderstorm season) and turn the amp off every night. Never any problems. But if you really don't use it 5 out of 7 days, I kind of agree w/ Aball. Just sh...
Purist Audio, Venustas or Aqueous
Boa2, thanks, I just read that other thread. I can only conclude that in my (very articulate) system, the Venustas probably sound just like the Aqueous does in your system. In any case, I certainly wouldn't want any further high end extension; the ...
where's ernie? and his power cords
Ernie should register as a "Commercial Seller" with Agon, that way he can list as many items as he want to, I think.
Purist Audio, Venustas or Aqueous
Boa2, since you have both, I assume you made A-B comparisons. What are these "huge" differences?
Purist Audio, Venustas or Aqueous
First a comment about power cords: Dominus is essential for amps and (believe it or not) DACs. You can get away with other fine PCs (Venustas, etc.) elsewhere. All my ICs are Venustas. I don't think there would be any discernable any sonic differen...
Best CD sleeves out there
I'm unfamiliar w/ Tyvex sleeves but this company makes some very useful sleeves that even include separate pockets for the CD, liner notes, and label:http://www.discsox.com/index.html
High End, and Rack Mountable
Brystons love Maggies. Personally, I'd buy 2 of the Bryston Pro Pak 500 watt mono plate amps and mount them to the back of the Maggies. Forget speaker cables, and just run long ICs.As for the rack thing: I used to do that back in the day (mid 80s ...
Cables for CAT JL2 - is Purist non-silver enough?
If you go to the Purist website and download the PDF catalog which includes all specifications for each cable they make, you will see that all of their interconnects use a silver/gold alloy + copper in all their ICs -- even the least expensive mod...
