Littlite-Which one to buy? My experience with various Littlite mounting systems is they all suck, that is if you're planning to yank the gooseneck around a lot (trust me you will!)Other than the panel mount (BNC plug) the weighted base is your best bet. However, there's a D...
Setup Dynavector XV-1s on SME V help Tim, if you have the detachable headshell model SME V, then you can dial it in to be level (after levelling the platter) by just twisting the headshell a little, so what happens to the vertical post as you tighten up the set bolts is not critical ...
Littlite-Which one to buy? I've never had hum problems from my Littlite. It wouldn't be from the rheostat anyway. It's just a simple resistance pot like a volume control. It's not like a wall dimmer. The only source of hum might be the wall wart (transformer) itself, but I ...
I need an IC with excellent noise rejection You are SO in luck! There is a pair (still, I think) of 10m Purist Venustas for sale here used for $1650. Yeah, I know they're a tad longer than you need, but deal of the century man, and they are just what you want -- absolutely one of the quiete...
Littlite-Which one to buy? Mark, first you get an A+++ for spelling Littlite correctly!!I like the 18" gooseneck cause it gets all the way across the platter to the cartridge from the LEFT side of the turntable, which is how you have to do it or it's in the way of your usin...
The long / Narrow room - system configuration Fjn04, it sounds like you're getting there pretty fast! One thing I would recommend after reading your room description is:To symmetricalize (is that a word?) the acoustics of your room by creating an absorbtive area on the right wall pretty much ...
Setup Dynavector XV-1s on SME V help Dgad, you would have thought SME would have addressed this by now, ya know!? Either with some kind of retrofit or even a new model. It's a head-scratcher!
The best powercable for power amps? It seems Peter and I have reached that point of contentment that I think we all hope to reach with our systems (or at least as regards our power cords ;~)) And like me, Peter has apparently tried quite a few. The fact that we have both settled on ...
The long / Narrow room - system configuration I would just add to what Sns said. Theoretically, long wall placement is desireable for soundsatge creation because with the speakers still reasonably close together (not over 8 ft c to c) you eliminate those nasty image-killing second arrival ref...
The best powercable for power amps? Sd2005gt, here is what I posted on another thread:I use a variety of PCs based on their cost/performance attributes in certain locations in my system. The three products I'm using are:Aural Thrills (3) Silver Big One for it's high energy transfer ...
Setup Dynavector XV-1s on SME V help Dgad, that's how I get my SME level also (the wobble.) I'm thinking about a Triplanar these days.
The long / Narrow room - system configuration My room is the same size. Ceiling slopes slightly from one and to the other (8' to 10').Using 25' single ended IC's is fine (and actually the preferred way to do it IMO), but they should be a good shotgun design like MIT, Straightwire, etc. And al...
Tube cage help I wouldn't recommend expanded for this application. There are a huge variety of perforated types that come prefinished in many different finishes, platings, and anodized colors.
The best powercable for power amps? I happen to like the Purist Dominus the best, but before making comparisons, first check to see that all the ones you audition have at least 10AWG gauge conductors (I'm not sure if all those you mentioned do.)
Replace Stylus or both Cart. & Stylus?? You just need to replace the stylus, which on a Shure is actually an assembly consisting of the stylus, cantilever, magnet and suspension. All that's really in the cartridge body are the pickup coils which should last indefinitely with normal care... |
