What did YOU get for Christmas?
Rar1, I'm happier for your pain free walking than I am for anything I got. Todays gifts are tomorrows garbage.I'm thinking about getting a PS Audio P300 with a little extra cash from my last check.
Power Cords Snake Oil ??
Corona is right on with his quote. The biggest problem I have with the measurement crowd is that science to too immature to know what it is measuring, much less to know how to measure it. In many cases modern science is like dwarves standing on th...
Replace amp or speakers ?
I would vote for the amp, for several reasons. I'm not impressed with that amp. Plus I think you will experience greater improvement in your system by upgrading closer to the source. I checked out your system, and think replacing the PS Audio woul...
Another annoying LP find post,,,but these are cool
Too bad there is not a means of listing all of the used/new vinyl shops for those of us who get to travel from time to time.
A serious blow to Canadian audiophiles, must read
The free access of both alchohol and dope would do nothing to increase the quality of life of anyone. I have friends who are crippled or dead from the use/misuse of these things. The American Constitution does not allow for the regulation of either...
SACD 2 channel vs Redbook 2 Channel
Stehno, what kind of music is available from Red Rose Music?
Are today's interconnects really better?
Better cables won't sound worse, they might reveal more of the shortcomings of lesser equipment though!I had AudioQuest Emerald for several years. I was given the chance to audition a pair of Purist Colossus while I was using the Emerald. After a ...
Long wall or short wall
I have always used 'short wall' setups in the different rooms I had, but I have no philisophical problems with the other setup.I have the CARA CD too. Rives audio has some helpful setup info at their website. Check out http://www.rivesaudio.com if...
New Sony NS999ES is in.
I've been wondering how the NS999ES sounds compared to some of the older models. Do you know if it would be much of an upgrade from the SCD777ES?Ben,I suppose with a name like Campbell you'd have to live in Scotland! I'm just kidding! If decide to...
I have seen the light.
It's too bad used vinyl is soo over priced on AudiogoN. There are a couple of sources for good used vinyl, and a bunch of collectable stuff here in town. It's fun to hunt for new stuff. Enjoy the table!
I have seen the light.
Nice TT/arm/cartridge combo, very similar to mine. I have been very happy with the combo, but I've always used the reflex clamp. Did you just buy it, or was it sitting idle while you spun your discs?I have a Sony SCD 777ES which plays SACD, and I ...
Who's the Cadillac of Hi-End Audio?
Cadillac has long been more image than substance, so MacIntosh would seem to fit.Nissan would be a good comparison to Sony. Lots of money, can build good products but prefers to stay 'mass market.'Audi matches up well with Krell, in my mind. I ref...
High End Myth Glossary.
Some of these myths come across as being just plain silly. Too many people believe if a difference cannot be measured that it is not a difference. The issue is that our science is still in an infancy state, but likes to make statements about things...
"Reference" SS vs"Reference" Tube
Audiophile36 Everyone has different preferences in thier music, so the things I think sound great might sound lousy to another listener. The person who loves the sound of a violin might love one system, or pair of speakers, when the person who is a...
Do I need a machine to clean ?
I tried lots of methods for cleaning LPs before I bought a SOTA LPC. The other methods worked okay, but the LPC is much better and easier to use.The only other thing a true audiophile could want is a racoon!
