Where should my equipment rack go? I have moved my equipment rack from between the speakers and out along the side wall. Getting the more sensative equipment away from the amp helped the sound quite a bit. So did going with a much better IC than I used previously.
What makes more sense? Several years ago I was in the same position. I wanted to try tubes but I was not sure which arrangement worked best. After a little thought I bought a Counterpoint Tube pre-amp and ran it with a couple of different SS amps. It gave the sound desc...
250 watts: why so much power? You misunderstand the reason for power. It has little or nothing to do with volume. There are several reasons why a comsumer might want to go with a higher powered amp.1) Certain speakers depending on their efficiency require large amounts of powe...
Cable vs. Electronics: biggest bang for the buck It must have been the "Peace on Earth" thing!
Should I Upgrade My Krells I doubt that harsh could be anyone's nirvana. What does harsh mean? I left room in my thread for any number of opinions. There is no piece of equipment that would be the best for everyone. The problem could be your room, your ears, or any number of...
Best phono stage for $1500.... I am a fan of solid state electronics so you may want to discount my response. Early last year i was in the market at about the same price range as you. After a long drawn out search I ended up with a Pass Labs Aleph Ono which had just been upgrade...
Should I Upgrade My Krells I have had several different Krell amps and pre-amps and have not found them to be harsh or overly aggresive. These are words which are typically applied by people who have never owned Krell or have a preconcieved notion of what everything should ...
Record sleeves? There is a guy on ebay who is selling "reference recording" inner sleeves. I have bought several packs from him and have been very happy with them. See if he's still there and selling. It's been a while since I bought any.
The best Carl Orff Carmina Burana? Pls1 I checked ebay and didn't find anything. I looked up both Carl Orff and Carmina Burana. I don't know how I missed the Philips LP but somehow I mangaged. Thanks
The best Carl Orff Carmina Burana? I have looked for some of these recommendations on LP but I can't find them. Maybe I'm just stupid as sugarbrie seems to suggest but can anyone offer any help?
Picking the right amp... The Aragon in mono blocks should be 400 WPC. I used to have an Aragon 8008st and sold it for a Krell FPB 200, but as I recall the Aragon 8008st is 200 WPC into 8 ohms. The mono blocks should be double that rating.Power is more of an issue with ine...
what tonearm for sota/shelter 501 ? TWL is probably right about his assesment. For another opinion I use the Sota Star Sapphire with a Rega RB 900 and the Benz Glider. The Shelter is arguably a better cartridge, but in many respects I think they are similar. The setup I have has all...
Cable vs. Electronics: biggest bang for the buck It is nice that this was able to be resolved by the end of the year.Happy New Year all!!!
How do you store a whole lotta LP's? I built shelves to hold about three thousand LPs for under $200. The only issue to worry about is the width of the shelves since LPs are much heavier than books. If you are handy, homemade shelving is very cost effective and can be done to match an...
What's under YOUR CD player? I use Audioquest sorbothane pucks under my Sony SCD-777es. I wish they weren't as tall as the are (about 1") because the Sony is top loading and I have a turntable as my primary source. With the sony on the second shelf it gets crowded sometimes. |
