Lots of loud bands and clubs, and the ringing always stopped. Except for one fateful day. Treated myself to titanium dome tweeters for the car. Pioneer separates. Subwoofers. An hour driving to the fantastic The The - Mind Bomb as loud as it could...

Good old days
My bet is that you don't love your system.  I remember doing the same thing—always listening for the good bits and always aware of the bad bits in the reproduction chain.  Eventually, over many tweaks, things clicked. Now I have no issues listen...
