Audio-Technica VM750SH or Goldring 1042
Can't go too wrong with the 750. It's a good budget cartridge.  I have one in a 12" Jelco 850 as a spare.
Need to know what instrument they're playing.

RP600M upgrade. Anybody using a Willsenton R800i with the Buchardt s400mkII?
Haven't heard either but it sounds like a sweet combination. Obviously,  with that rear radiator, you'll need a little space behind them.

How are you connecting the headphones to the Ref 75?
Audio-Technica VM750SH or Goldring 1042
A Jelco SA250ST if I recall correctly. Medium to high mass so suit medium to low compliance cartridges.

$500 on Discogs for mint one. $300 for NM. $300-400 on Ebay for VG.
Audio-Technica VM750SH or Goldring 1042
The 1042 is in VM760SLC price territory so I’d compare there. The 750 is decent. My memory of the Goldring is from the 80s so not too reliable! It seemed a good all-rounder but was in a much cheaper field then. I’d be tempted to go for the Nakaoka...

I met this really ugly girl. After dinner she looked a little better. The next day she was acceptable. Now we are married and she is wonderful.
UPGRADING HIFI - MC OHMS?
The Audio Technica VM750SH for $400 will probably be all you need. Listing all your equipment would help. MC/SUT need pretty good ancillary gear to sound their best.
Original Quads (57) - the perfect amp
@whart I ran Quad ll in the 80s with GEC 66s too. Magical midband and sweet as a nut. However, If my aural memory serves me well, I do believe my updated EICOs may solidly outshine them.
Original Quads (57) - the perfect amp
I’m running rebuilt late 50s EICO HF-35 monos under each speaker. They are a EL34/6L6 design (running 7581A) and sound fantastic. Basically any 10-35 watt (more if you have protection circuit) push-pull tube amp will work. The Quads reveal more a...
