I think you need to try a tube amp. The Rotel is not great. Neither are the other amps you've listed. Try a better amp and you may decide to keep your speakers.

Bought some 14/2 “speaker wire” from Home Depot
I tinned the ends to prevent any stray strands14/2 Romex is solid core and better sounding.

Depends on budget, don't it? If it was my kid's gaff, I'd look at Spendor D7.2 and a Rega Elicit-R amp.

External EQ/other solution?
Try a set of Nobsound springs under the turntable. Use 3 springs per footer as the table is light.
