Voxativ loudspeakers and drivers
Soundsrealaudio: I'd be happy to provide periodic updates. I, too, have had prior single driver and concentric driver loudspeakers....although I've owned the Voxativ Zeth for only 2 months I can confidently say that these are different. The Voxati...
Extremely impressed with SET/Voxativ Combo.....Challanging 20 years of happy listening.
Thanks for your kind words and suggestions douglas_schroeder & jond. I spent over a decade trying new gear and tweaking and I was actually relieved to settle into my favorite VAC/KEF system long term.  I recently decided to try an optimized lo...
Has Anyone Had a Good Experience with HigherFi??
The gentleman agreed to sell my amplifiers on consignment. In the interim I found a buyer on my own. When I told him I had an opportunity to sell if he hadn't found a buyer, he said he had a commitment from a buyer and was negotiating over buyer t...
How do tube manufacturers like VAC get 55 watts per KT88 where others get only 30-35?
I would still love to know how VAC gets 100 watts per pair of KT88s without tube reliability issues or distortion. Probably some proprietary secrets, the intelligent auto bias,  as well as huge power supplies to comfortably generate the needed pla...
How do tube manufacturers like VAC get 55 watts per KT88 where others get only 30-35?
Thanks knghifi!I appreciate your recommendations on the the Sig 200 IQ and the Ren V SE upgrade. You are so right. VAC is a proven winner for two decades and Kevin is great to work with!  Why stray?
How do tube manufacturers like VAC get 55 watts per KT88 where others get only 30-35?
Thanks Charles and jond:  I will be driving KEF Ref 3 loudspeakers. My preamplifier is VAC Ren 5 and my room is very modest at 14 x 16 ft.  I'm tempted to go Zesto Bia 120, albeit less power, as class A and running tubes conservatively sounds enti...
How do tube manufacturers like VAC get 55 watts per KT88 where others get only 30-35?
Thank you all for your input!  Agreed....many roads to Rome or great sound.I'm considering a VAC Sig 200 IQ stereo unit using a total of 4 KT88 delivering100 Wpc in class AB1 or AB2, or a Zeso Bia 120 stereo unit, also using 4 KT88, delivering 60 ...
How do tube manufacturers like VAC get 55 watts per KT88 where others get only 30-35?
Thanks bdp24. That's similar in that VAC gets 450 watts per Statement 450 Monoblocks with only 8 KT88s per side.Like you say...implementation and out of the box thinking...and very special designers in Modjeski and Hayes!
Parallel SET with sufficient power
I appreciate your candid and very helpful comments. I will rethink my decision, for once before the purchase!  Thank you all, especially Al and Ralph.
Hegel H30 Stereo vs Clayton M300 Monoblocks
Thank you for your response Charles!...pretty much my thinking as well. The Hegel is a remarkable amplifier, also more quiet at idle, but once the music starts playing the Clayton is the more natural. Interesting topology in bridged class A design ...
6C33C tubes - sonics, implementation & availability
Thanks, Ralph, for your comprehensive comments!Forgive me for not including the OTL topology used in your earlier offerings as well as Joule Electra, etc. I wish there was a way of knowing whether individual manufacturers use more heavy duty socke...
Power supply hum transmitted to loudspeakers
I'd like to share an observation.  Two days ago I moved my audio system to a really silent room that my stepson vacated. The room is extremely quiet but the components are closer as are the loudspeakers. Now that background noise has been virtuall...
Power supply hum transmitted to loudspeakers
A question for Atmashere/Ralph:(and others who care to contribute)With your fine OTLs and the sensitive loudspeakers you often use, can you hear any noise/hiss 1-2 ft from your loudspeakers at idle? My VAC amps and my AudioNote Kit Interstage Mono...
Power supply hum transmitted to loudspeakers
Thanks for all your thoughtful responses.I realize that this discussion has as much to do with psychology as electronics.  What's easy for some to ignore or even sound soothing, drives others crazy...as Mr Spock used to say 'fascinating'. As I rea...
Audio Note Kits Interstage PSE Monoblocks
Hi CharlesI'm actually driving KEF Reference 3, not a particularly easy load, but they sound great together. I'm delighted and may not go back to my 'references' amplifier for some time!  Thanks, Norm
