What does Nominal Impedance mean?
I take it to mean the impedance where most of it lies across the frequency range. Case in point: my speakers are 6 ohm nominal, with a minimum of 4.4 ohm @175Hz. Because of that, they state 4 ohm on the speaker. Not all speaker makers do that. So...
Prospectives on Chi-Fi
It is so unfortunate, unnecessary, and unproductive to attack Lord Melton in this way. You must be afraid of something and perhaps many things have captivated your attention so as to distract you from truth. Yes, the factual, obvious and naggin...
Prospectives on Chi-Fi
We need to watch our own house and not points fingers to distract from that. There are 11 states that want to repeal child labor laws allowing kids as young as 14 to work and one state wants to allow 12 year olds to marry. Would you want your 15 y...
The "audiophile gear" I REALLY need is a damn house.
I've always wanted a place where I could throw a rock as hard as I could from my front lawn and not hit the nearest neighbor.  I with you on this. 👍 All the best, Nonoise
The best speaker cables you’ve had

How To Keep Cat Off Stereo Equipment?
Scents that cats hate are: citrus rosemary thyme bananas mustard strong menthol assorted bath oils Just like hanging garlic for vampires, try one or two of the aforementioned around and/or atop your gear and see if that works. All the ...
What is the proper loudness for listening?

Could these be your next cable loom??...and price be damned.
@daveyf Outfits like Crystal Cable have been in the business long enough to know what their clients want and can afford. They also know the nature of this hobby down to what percentage of their client base can afford to go higher. Most likely, the...
Could these be your next cable loom??...and price be damned.
New on the scene is Kinki Studio's line of cables which look a lot like Crystal Cables cables. They are very reasonable and nowhere near the outrageous prices that Crystal is asking for. Here's a link to line. They're too new to be seen on their w...
Technics SU-R1000 - Good but not the king of switching amps
@johnsonwu Thanks for that. I've read the same thing in reviews as well. Still would love to have the SU-R1000. 😄 All the best, Nonoise
Technics SU-R1000 - Good but not the king of switching amps
Thank you for bringing your Swiffer 😄  I have the "lessor" SU-G700M2 which the Absolute Sound called "a taste of the ultra high end for a tenth of the price." I wish I could afford the SU-R1000 but a "taste" I can live with.  All the best, Nonoise

Speakers sounding dull? MUST READ! The truth about speaker design!
The punctuation which has been used is known as Master Kenjits Dialect or MKD.   Like I said earlier, a troll. One with little resources to draw upon due to being on two different continents and therefore, two different cultures. There's only ...
Speakers sounding dull? MUST READ! The truth about speaker design!
As long as you're channeling others from the ether, can you conjure up someone with something thought provokingly profound to expound upon? Or it could be someone like an organ grinder and his monkey. I'll take either right now over anything from ...
New MOFI speaker (Andrew Jones)
Not all speakers rated at 87db perform alike. My Atalante 3 monitors are 87 db and  my JBL 4319 are 92db and when I listen to the Atalantes, the volume is turned up only 1 to 1.5db to get the same room filling sound. That's 3 steps on the volume s...
