Does JBL get a bad rap?
Name one good rap(per).
Who do you trust?
How many reviewers try a component in the context of of a desk top system, TV system, main room system, and to be fair, as many type of gear possible to get a decent and synergistic pairing so as to fairly review the component?(This requires keepi...
Six Moons charges for reviews?
So, if I understand you correctly, all of the reviews he's done all these years for free don't contribute to the entirety of his work now that he had to level the playing field for participation? All the best,Nonoise
Six Moons charges for reviews?
As Viridian points out, read Srajan's rationale for why he did it and just when he did it as it's been awhile since he's implemented it. Also, the review that's alluded to in the OPs post allowed for the manufacturer to be grandfathered in under t...
Is high-end audio dying, if not dead already???
I'm too lazy to read all the posts just coming back from a wine tasting but as of now I feel that high end is not so much over as the "emperors clothes" no longer hide the fact that "high end' audio is alive and well and had been living all along ...
Will the sound quality deminish over the years?
Mceljo-good point. My first reaction was something like "who covered my speakers in cheesecloth?", it was that big of a difference. Although I've written off the tuner since I got it for so little, I'm still not used to the trade off in sound. Hav...
Will the sound quality deminish over the years?

Audiolabarynth, here is a link to the 4365, which seems to be the bigger brother to the 4429: http://eu.jbl.com/jbl_product_detail_eu/studio-monitor-4365.htmlAgain, seemingly available everywhere except here in the U.S.All the best,Nonoise
Will the sound quality deminish over the years?
Doah!, I'm channeling Homer Simspon as I pen this. I didn't know that. Going back over the reviews of the Marantz tuner I see that it's geared for a great midband and bass so maybe it's that that the NAD lacked which made it seem able to go higher...
Will the sound quality deminish over the years?
I think Rocc1007 says that in jest. Recently I had to replace my NAD 4300 tuner as it just stopped working (after a couple of decades) and replaced it with a Marantz ST-6000 which has all the bells and whistles one could hope for (presets, remote,...
Silver cables or copper?Any opinons.
Dialectic: 1) the propensity for speaking in tongues after long listening sessions 2) a typo
Does JBL get a bad rap?
Hello Audiolabyrinth,The JBL 4429 is actually one of their current offerings but you can only order them from Japan. As to which came first, the 4429 or the Everest, I can't say.The speaker and article about the Disney engineer was this one: http:...
Does JBL get a bad rap?
There is a very old Audio Critic issue where a Disney engineer gave advice and schematics for what he felt to be the best speaker you could buy or make. All of the drivers were JBLs. He felt they made the best drivers in the business but (at the t...
Silver cables or copper?Any opinons.
I use Tempo Electric silver speaker cables with bare ends. On their site is a breakdown of gauge depending on power amp rating and cable length. I'm pretty sure it's standard for most applications. They sound very good in my system and better anyt...
Equipment Grading Honesty
I agree with Minor1. Since the seller is living in a different world than we and flatly states his rating system is different and of a lessor standard than what A'gon uses, A'gon should be made aware of his tactics so others won't get ripped off a...
