Remind me again why...
douglas_schroeder, thanks for reminding me of something so basic that it's often overlooked: the weak link can be the recording.jl35, thanks for letting me know what Pierre feels about his cables as the Mapleshade combo gave me the greatest insigh...
Saw This Announced On New Year's Eve...
Best of luck to Radio Shack for what is fairly common, but hard to prove. If they have hard evidence, good for them, but coming on the heels of a bankruptcy will raise some eyebrows, diluting their claim in some eyes. All the best,Nonoise
Looking for a $800 - $1500 used high powered integrated with sub outs
Try something from Marantz. A used PM15S2b would be nice. It powers my 95db Clearwave Duet 6 monitors to lease breaking levels and has pre out jacks for a powered sub.All the best,Nonoise
How to tell if your dog is involved in a Sex scandle
I thought the camel was priceless until I saw the two birds.
ZU event (version 1) speaker cables on sale/closeout
Thanks for the heads up. I'm interested in this as I already own the Mission SCs and feel a larger gauge would fit my needs. They make a quality product, despite the techie word play. All the best,Nonoise
Remind me again why...
Well, it didn't take long to for something to pop my bubble. Every CD I tried prior to penning this benefited from the double run of cables, be it  with the Mapleshades or with the Zu/Supra combo. Both had more presence than previously experienced...
Cables and reviewers
I've read a lot of advice here on A'gon where one is told to ask the speaker maker what he uses. Fair enough. My present and last set of speakers are internally wired with Supra Ply. Both makers use it for their speaker cables. It works. Sometimes...
Paying taxes/duty on used goods purchased in Canada
Yes, it all depends on the shipper. Anything sent USPS should not exact a fee. I've bought three folding knives (on three occasions) from a Canadian site and the postage for each was around $3.00 and I got them within 5 days. No problem, no hassle...
Speakers that are very accurate sounding but don't produce an emotional connection.
To put a finer point on what I said before, the speakers I now have are very engaging, emotionally. They weren't at first. It took the right stands and placement (directly on them with no footers) and then the merry-go-round with cables before the...
Speakers that are very accurate sounding but don't produce an emotional connection.
Any system, regardless of price, can provide that emotional connection.  Every system I've had started at a point where I had to work it to attain that emotional connection. Adding some new piece of gear pointed me in the right direction but it co...
Thanks to all who have helped me in my quest for excellent sound.
Enjoy the sound you now have. I think I'm where you're at but still come back now and then and yes, it's not the same. As for the new look, I thing I would have gone a different way.....All the best,Nonoise
Blue Circle's PLC -2 Thingee conditioner versus Transparent Audio PLC 6 conditioner???:
I have the Blue Circle Thingee and it's actually a piece of PVC tube and not metal (small point). Also, bought new, it didn't have the odor that some have said it has. As to performance, it's pretty darn good. There's no stage constriction or redu...
Apparently Hans Solo wasn't the only ...
That carbonate left all the details compared to what it did to Hans. I guess they perfected the process.
suggestons on speaker cable that boost mid and upper bass
Going from a multi strand silver cable to a single, solid core copper cable of high purity might be the way to go. It's been my (limited) experience that even well made multi strand cables impart a lush and pleasing midrange with a lessening of th...
