Have speakers really improved within the last 20 years??
Was that last post a mass of contradictions, or is it just me?
Oppo's gone, now what dvd/bluray to buy (Oppo BDP-105d)
I’m in the same boat as you and have read up as much as I can and the sweet, middle spot looks like the Panasonic DP-UB820 ($499.99), which is a scaled down version of the DP-UB9000 ($999.99).Video wise, it’s the same as it’s big brother but lacki...
Question/Advice About Isolation Feet for Speakers
If the Gaias are anything like the Oreas, then you want to use about 50-70% of the weight limit capacity of the footers, and not anything approaching 90%. I found that out with my Oreas. Also, If you haven't returned them yet, do try them with some...
Have you changed your mind about a brand? Was it you, or them?
I loved my Marantz Reference PM15S2b integrated when I first got it. When I got the Kinki Studio EX-M1, I liked that even more. With some fiddling of filter settings on the Marantz SA15S2b SACD player, installing the Niagara 1200 power conditioner...

Can you imagine anything worse than being stuck in a small lifeboat in the middle of the ocean with kenjit? By the time anyone found you, you'd be the only person in that lifeboat.

This is like a mix of The Princess and the Pea and the Little Emperor Syndrome.
Power Conditioners
@turnbowm,The changes in dynamics and bass were all for the better, by a noticeable margin. Nothing restricted or limited. In fact, just the opposite in that they both benefited from elimination of noise on the line. All of this is with my integra...
Can I use 24 gauge speaker cable?
Here's a very old table that's been used to gauge speaker wire applications and it's not just for silver speaker wire, which this site happens to sell:http://tempoelectric.com/cables_speaker-cables.htmYou'll see this table used by a lot of old aud...
Power Conditioners
@turnbowm,I went with the first thing that popped up and it's over at Crutchfield for $839.99. If one can find it cheaper, all the better. As for the "Power Correction" aspect, I'd have to hear it for myself to determine if it betters the Niagara 1...
Power Conditioners
You should also check out the Audioquest Niagara 1200 that goes for about $160 more than the Furman ($999). It does all that the Furman does and is designed by Garth Powell, who used to work for and designed the Furman power conditioners.Garth fee...
why a 75 dollar blue ray smokes all 2k CD players and any turntable???
I find it amazing that all it takes is for some people to find something someone else wrote that validates their point of view and all of a sudden, it's gospel!Happens all the time in other areas of life so why not audio. Whatever happened to list...
Tweaks you got rid of because they were not effective (enough)?
As for cable lifters, there are some who've taken measurements and reported it. Roger Skoff explains it here: https://positive-feedback.com/audio-discourse/bunking-cable-lifters/ He noted that the measured capacitance changed every time a speaker ...
I'm never going to hear a megaspeaker in a good room am I?
I would suggest you enjoy what you have and stop complaining.Really?
Can I use 24 gauge speaker cable?
People buy a tuner like that for the craftsmanship, the cache, and appreciation in it's art. Not to mention it's great at pulling stations at great distances. Why not ask why anyone would buy an old, vintage watch at a 6 figure price when a Timex ...

There's not anywhere near as many great audio salons as there used to be. If you want to hear a great sounding speaker in a great room, I suggest you keep some luggage packed for those trips you'll need to make. All the best,Nonoise
