Best Vintage Speakers for Classical & Jazz music
Great speakers. I recently fired up a pair of LFT-8b’s for a change of pace and, surprisingly, the Snell As are not far from the LFT’s,  I was surprised when I installed them.  oops.. I just looked up the Mc 1700..40 watts. Not enough for the Sn...
which tube dac? Lab 12 vs Line Magnetic vs Borderpatrol?
Just picked up a MHDT Orchid yesterday and I'm listening to it now.  I rolled a few tubes through it (stock type 5670, Western Electric  JW 2C51, and an Amperex 6922) and the Amperex wins..super nice sounding DAC.  My now former DAC was a Paradise...
The law of diminshing returns?
The "law" is just an equation, y = 1/x.  It doesn't just apply in some cases or to some people, it applies in all cases.  Though subjectivity & opinion can bend your world any way you want,  this doesn't change reality.  "Diminishing returns" ...
Jays Audio Being Dismantled-Final videos
Really not sure that all the fuss about this guy is warranted. Folks seem to think he's making big money as a hi-fi ambassador, reselling gear that he got at a huge discount and making big money by doing so...   I was an analyst for many years.  ...
Does Anyone Else Have a Very Slow Connection to Audiogon?
Not overly slow in my case, but they keep logging me out, which is annoying.
Christina Pulhar..spin it up
@kr4  Very nice!  Thanks for the suggestion.  I'm listening now.
Speaker recommendations welcomed
Another vote for the Eminent Technology  LFT 8b or LFT-8c
Christina Pulhar..spin it up
Altissima: Works for High Baroque Trumpet Josh Cohen • Ensemble Sprezzatura • Daniel Abraham   Glorious.
Christina Pulhar..spin it up
Been listening through her (and L'Arpeggiata, the ensemble she she assembled in 2000) catalog.   Lots of exceptional music.  so far, listened to: Ciaccone, Bergamasche e un po’ di Follie (excellent) Monteverdi: Teatro d'amore (very good) Musi...
Do you have a speaker that’s not a big name maker but punches above its weight? Why?
Another vote for Eminent Technology LFT-8b. I think they punch waay above their weight class. Any (used) *8" model can be brought up to the current model for a modest cost, with mfg support...including the latest LFT-8c..which is getting rave re...
Jay’s Audio Lab is shutting down
I watched a few of his videos.  For me, not that it matters, the whole thing doesn't add up. He has 36K subscribers and most of his videos get a minimal number of views (5K-25K).  I think it's reasonably safe to say he's not making lunch money (on...
DIY Speaker Kits, a good idea?
I did hear a significant widening and raising of the soundstage this morning when trying a number of new panel placement angles(off axis rotating away from my listening chair). Very happy with the results.     ..and I think I have a final design...
DIY Speaker Kits, a good idea?
I understand what you’re saying.  I’ve done a fair amount of research and have viewed  a number of Danny’s videos on open baffles, dipoles, baffle width, baffle diffraction..etc.  As for one owner claiming something...good to be aware of, but lot...
DIY Speaker Kits, a good idea?
A rough idea of what the re-frame might look like.  The oval on top would probably a carving of some sort.  I'm thinking maybe a walnut / bordeaux wine color dyed cherry mix.
Jay’s Audio Lab is shutting down
@rpeluso  Interesting. He must go through a fair amount of equipment to support a channel. I'll have to take a look.  HR, given the size of the guy, that's sort of humorous. I can see a new employee during orientation.. Jay: "..and that's prett...
