The Best Compliment You've Gotten On Your Rig?
This is the best complement I have got. One weekend my older daughter had her friend ( both about 19 or so at the time) staying at our place overnight. On Saturday early morning as usual I had 'classical music' listening session and a solo piano w...
Need help from smart people - biamping
Thanks Al.I do now understand the vol increase potential, which is to say slightly not to extent (3db) I was thinking. Dynamic headroom will most likely increase (==>better sound quality)I meant to say that my preamp has 'designed in' TWO pairs...
Need help from smart people - biamping
Hi Al,Thanks that is exactly my thinking was. My preamp does have 'designed in' two sets of outputs (a balanced set and single ended set- I currently use only set of balanced at present). Not sure what that means to volume loss since both will pre...
Need help from smart people - biamping
I was contemplating exact same configuration. With vertical passive bi amping, would the SPL increase at same volume level at preamp? If not, how about potential SPL increase capability with biamping at comparable before and after biamping?
Zanden DAC noise problem
Lloyd, You got mail!
What is a high end stereo SUPPOSED to sound like?
High end is supposed to sound like real live unamplified music- Natural, mostly free of elecronic artifacts on well recorded material.Instead what we get(99% of time, regardless of price)is tonal freqency balance that is generally 10s to 100s of Hz...
Zanden DAC noise problem
Lloyd, I will send you personal email since the topic is off main thread.
Magico Q7 . . . wow
Good points Wslam. Corollary is that the brass instruments would have 'double the Metal' in Q7 ;-)That is why I said I am not looking for any debates as nothing is perfect. Carry on!
Magico Q7 . . . wow
Just auditioned Q7's about a week ago at my dealer's place. About six months ago in the same system I also had audition Q5s. While the bass was noticeably more in Q7, both sounded somewhat similar. Both still sounded mechanical and electronic- far...
Zanden DAC noise problem
Ramy,It sure would be great to have authorized Zanden service centers here in US. It would be highly cost effective. Before I sent my transport to Japan, I did try to contact Brooks Berden here in LA area and they said they could fix my Transport ...
Zanden DAC noise problem
Ramy, I hear you regarding you not wanting to send the unit to Japan. The cost of round trip shipping alone would cost $800 ( even at Zanden's cost) and yes it takes long time to fix too, as Zanden is a small operation company and I hear most repa...
Magico Room at RAMF How good did it sound
I heard they are working on the new Q7 (12" woofers) est priced at $150000!, supposedly big brother of Q5.
Turntable speed accuracy
No one seems to set the speed as I do. I adjust speed while playing same known track on CD as well as TT. I measure with stopwatch and play simultaneously going back and forth such that the song start and ends at exactly the same time on both CD a...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Mapman, That is an excellent question and rationale in last para.We have good arguments from both Digital(Red book and beyond) and Analog (Vinyl). Lot of discussion automatically assumes Analog to be continous (theoretically) but like Mapman impli...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Good debate by Al above.I have always wondered: Does number of samples reduce as you go high in frequency range? I always read that there are only two samples at 20Khz say in redbook CD format. Does this mean that at 10 Khz there will be 4 or 5 kh...
