New Ground Loop - What Could Have Caused? Whoa. Nothing ever is simple, is it. I will first try Jim's FIOS box suggestion, because it is easier and I know what to do. Jim's other suggestion probably is beyond my technical competence, but I know where the FIOS cable connects to the house.T...
New Ground Loop - What Could Have Caused? It was the Verizon FIOS box. Once I disconnected IC's running from FIOS box to pre, problem solved. No music stations through stereo, though. Not sure what happened. I had no problems for years. There may have been storms and the units were plugged...

Mac sound quality I do not ascribe evil motives to anyone. I just don't think computers are a viable alternative to a top notch transport.digicable/DAC setup. Just look at the threads of people having constant problems with hardware/software/etc. And I use computer...
Powercords $1000 that beat VH Audio cords I have both the Kimber PK-10 Palladian and several Valhalla PC's. The PK-10 is an excellent cord, especially for the $$, but the Valhalla really is in a different league. It is not on the dry, more clinical side like the spkr cables or IC's.The Le...
would the Sony SCD 5400 Ex make a good transport? I tried it as a transport. Didn't hold a candle to my CEC TL-1x, nor did it even match my old Toshiba 9200 DVD/CD Player, which BTW is a darn good transport. For what you can get one for used, it is a steal.neal
Is there a cable maven in the house? I have used both the BAT and Cardas adapters successfully. BAT are more robust -- but more expensive. Cheaper adaptors from other suppliers break easily.Neal
Speakers free of grain, glare and steel? Generally speaking, yuo cannot go wrong with Spendor. They really do nothing wrong. I have had them almost contiuously in either main or BR system for over 30 years. Any time I sold a pair I missed them and ended up buying another. Currently have ...
Building bedroom system.....speakers for it? I have had Spendor SA 1's in BR system since speakers first came out a few years ago. They are superb, lifelike and fight far above their size. I have had many Spendor models over the years and finally learned my lesson - don't sell!Neal
Best CD I've heard so far 2011......... Ra Ra Riot - The Orchard. Combo of Andrew Bird and Vamoire Weekend. Can't get their songs out of my head. These guys can write, sing and play. Heard them live on Mountain Stage.Neal
Belles 150A Hot Rod with Audible Illusions preamp I have a 150A Hot Rod, which I unfortunately blew up by changing interconnects with power on. I spoke to Belles and they will fix it if I ship it in.It is a wonderful, musical amp, punching way above its price range.Excellent low end, very smooth,...
New Von Schweikert VR 33? I have owned VSA VR5 HSE's for some 6 years now and have been an audiophile for some 40 years. This gives me no special insight other than a lot of experience listening to different speakers over the course of the years, both in my own systems and...
Has anybody compared Lessloss and Shunyata pcs I have 2 LessLoss Sigs and they are outstanding. After going through all the big names, I have found only 2 PC's that equal or better the LL: Nordost Valhalla and Elrod Statement (older version). The latter, however, is so thick and heavy as to be... |
