phono cable suggestions.. Belden 89259, this one gives rich, full body sound. I use another Belden coaxle cable and it has more refined sounds but a tad reduction in low frequency. I think different Belden cable has different impedance so you have to match them to your car...
phono cable suggestions.. I am using Belden computer network coax cables and they beat those cheap din-rca cables. It's a cheap experiment, I highly recommend.
VPI HW19-IV or Aires Black Knight Go with the Black Knight because the plinth is important. The lead loaded platter also improves the sound image and clarity. I sold my HW19 MK III plinth and built me a cocobolo plinth with lead loaded. The sound improvement is great. You can use ...
Don't lie....Do you hoard vinyl? You can donate to thrift stores and get tax deductions. We should reserve the vinyls and pass them on. If no body wants them then it's their loss.
DIY tonearm, the US Patent Office has many tonearm Dear Frank, I am flattered that you responed to my post. As you can see from this forum, people rather build the box containers for their TT ( the thread should be about Lenco than Home Depot )than building tonearms. As you see from my page, my to...
Good Phono Pre-Amps...$500 to $1500 Sonic Frontiers SFP-1, Signature version or Phono 1 in used conditions. I have the SFP-1 version (using with at least 2 mV MM cartridge) and it beats the modified and unmodified EAR 834P in term of image, sound stage, and dark background. I sold t...
Does anyone ever retube Sonic Frontier preamp. SFL2? I replaced the tubes as matched pairs and it worked OK. Of course, I had to roll tubes to lower the noise floor and obtain the preferred sonic flavor. Thanks for all of your help.
I was sitting here.... Did you get the azimuth checking tool? and did it help? I believe that the hearing test is important because with trial and error, I can find the optimal settings. Keep us posted with the tool evaluation.
Luxman tables I have the 272 model and the automatic feature is not reliable. I also have the manual 221 which is more sturdy and can accomodate SME tonearm. Techniques makes more reliable automatic TT.
DIY tonearm, the US Patent Office has many tonearm Johnnantais, I used both arrow and golfshaft depending on the cartridge compliancy. I used a single ball bearing super glued it on at the end of a stick. Then I made a dimple with a drill bit on the arm tube where the pivot point at. The azimuth b...
DIY tonearm, the US Patent Office has many tonearm I guest there is not much interest in DIY tonearm. Unipivot tonearms are simple to make, I make some and they sound great. People have more interest in making turntable plinths instead. Check out my analog photos.http://www.geocities.com/nghiep16/...
Plinth building tools? If you do some research on the internet analog forum, you can find dimensions for the plinth. I have a SP-25 and the hole for the direct drive motor unit is not that tight fit. I like to suggest solid mapple plinth and brass cone footing because t...
Teres update - After Week One If you have statics noise when removing record from the platter, try to attach a ground wire to the bottom end of the spindle. The wooden plinth doesn't dissipate the static charge buildup in the spindle. The ground wire from the tonearm doesn't n...
Teres update - After Week One Joe, since you making more plinth, I would like to suggest you to listen to the TT without any finish coating or veneering. I believe that the finishing and veneering traps the sound resonation insde the plinth which requires more lead loading to ...
How dose your plinth sound? Dougdeacon, my theory is in the tuning of TT. Whatever materials of the TT, one has to tune it to sound right. The tuning of TT is also matching it with the rest of the system. The shape of the TT is for looks. I like to make mine simple and liste... |
