Blue Jeans Cable Sound Good???
We're using various different cables here, including some that I construct myself primarily using Belden, Neutrik, and Canare. But also Blue Jeans Cable, Acoustic Zen, Oyaide/Ortofon, Mogami, Pro Co, and Timestep among others.
Double blind test- over a month- could this be a reliable test for any equipment?
The double-blind audio data (e.g. codec) tests conducted by researchers and sound experts will be rapid comparisons of the same short segment. Typically you will pick a few seconds out of a 30 second track, and rapidly switch back and forth in ord...
Magnepan and room size, room placement
@meiatflask DIY acoustic absorption panels would work well. You can build your own following any of the tutorials and discussions found online. The easiest approach is to grab some semi-rigid fiberglass panels from a local commercial insulation com...
Digital Room Correction For Speakers
I recommend Dirac Live. It's available in various products, as standalone computer software, and the most cost effective and flexible solution tends to be the miniDSP products. The newer SHD series can also be used to precisely integrate subwoofer...
Magnepan and room size, room placement
With planar dipoles the room is extremely important, so I'm afraid what you have been reading online is not misleading. The sooner and louder you get reflections off the wall behind the speakers, the more they were interfere with the clarity of th...
One or two dedicated AC wire ?
You may find yourself wanting the second dedicated circuit depending on what gear you're using. I have 4 dedicated 20A circuits, and 1 dedicated 15A circuit, and I'm finding I could have benefited from having at least one more added. But I'm a bit...

Any RME ADI-2 DAC FS owners here?
@simna I wouldn't recommend the ADI-2 DAC if you want the sound of tubes. Unless you find you're getting enough of that with your other tube gear, and want to lighten it up a bit.
Any RME ADI-2 DAC FS owners here?
The RME ADI-2 is an excellent AKM449X implementation, and for that sound it can certainly compete with some more expensive DACs. You may find it a little cold, analytical, and dry, but that really depends on your own subjective calibration point. ...
RME ADI 2 DAC question
@wengr amplifier Class A, AB, D are not topologies. In electronics, topology is how things are connected, or how they would be laid out in a schematic. Which is different than how they may be laid out on in an physical product. https://en.wikipedi...
Connect Pre-out to Pre-amp
@kanchi647 if you are only trying to get the sound of the Denon AVR-X6400H plus the Conrad Johnson LP260SE then you need to leave the Cary SLP-05 out of the chain. But you can certainly choose to connect the AVR-X6400H pre-outs to the SLP-05 input...
Bi-amp benefits with active crossover
https://www.audioholics.com/frequent-questions/the-difference-between-biamping-vs-biwiring has a decent section on active and passive bi-amping.
Preamps with separate L/R volume controls
@kalali no functional difference, but typically some implementation difference.
A DAC that can make digital sound analog?
@brettmcee I've been following this thread to try and get a better understanding of exactly what you're looking for, but I'm still not sure I have a good picture of it.I notice some people have mentioned the Lumin DACs with transformer-coupled out...
Preamps with separate L/R volume controls
The Questyle "Golden Reference System" dual mono setup has separate volume controls for each channel. Some of the Parasound Halo amps have gain knobs for each channel, as do the pro versions of Bryston amps.
