Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi florence4, If the devil is in the details then Raul is right. My X1,mk2 is Victor without prefix ''JVC''. However our member Don(Griffiths) made the real discovery. Namely the Victor Z-1 S with Jico SAS stylus. According to me nearly as good as...
Time to choose: Baerwald, Lofgren, Stevenson ?
My Gosh, How could Tchaikovsky know on which part of therecord to put (write)  those shots ? Beethoven , on the other side, would  not care for his crescendos  because he was deaf (grin).
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Well I owned both but our hearing memory is not realiable. So Ihave only indirect ''proof''. I sold the MK 1 but kept the MK 2.Either because the Mk 2 looks better or sounds better.
Time to choose: Baerwald, Lofgren, Stevenson ?
Dear chakster, On the most ''tractors'' one can see those two''zero points'' at which a tonearm is assumed to have zero errors. Those two zero points are not at the same ''points'' in relationto the record radius. This imply different geometries. L...
Do they make a quiet great sounding phono pre amp??
Well this can't be evolutionary but only revolutionary development.Yesterday I was a laymen and today an expert reg. Klyne's 7PX.Thanks to atmasphere I aproached those switches without anyfear. According to him those are not important and unimport...
Do they make a quiet great sounding phono pre amp??
Dear atmasphere, There is no way to know at which frequency which LOMC resonate because such info is not mentioned by the cart specs. One is supposed to ''detect'' them by listening and this made me already nervous despite the fact that I probably...
Do they make a quiet great sounding phono pre amp??
I made my choice and bought the Klyne 7PX. Alas I find the usermanual very confusing. There are three ''adjustment categories''but only two ''banks'' with switches . One in front for the choice of the amplification (35, 50 and 63dB) the other on t...
fabulous Technics EPC-100 series re-tip
Dear chakster, I missed somehow the picture by your contributionfrom 09-14-2016. This picture shows the back side of the tubein which tension wire is centered and tightened. You assumedthat the tension wire is removed but the little  ''tail'' at t...
Time to choose: Baerwald, Lofgren, Stevenson ?
Dear chakster, ''Thant's the point?'' I have no idea what thisexpression means. It my mean ''that is not the point'' but also ''that is the point''. But if you know better why do you ask this question?I considered only the ''normal'' (aka 12'') re...
Time to choose: Baerwald, Lofgren, Stevenson ?
Dear chakster, The answer to your question depends more fromyou records than your ears. But first thing first. Lofgren was, uh,the first who described the optimal geometry for the tonearm inrelation to the record radius. Hoewer Bearwald got the ho...
AT 155LC and AT 160ML
Both are excelent carts with beryllium cantilever and micro ridgestylus (?). However the AT 160 cantilever is gold plated probably fordampening reasons. I own both but only the user manual forthe 155LC. The other should provide specs for the AT 16...
Do they make a quiet great sounding phono pre amp??
Dear Lew, No reaction from you so I will answer your logicalquestion. Your assumption is:''No x Fx and Gx''.My assumption is:''some x Fx and Gx''.My assumption is true if there is just one member (of set x) who has heard both (F) Klyne 7 PX and (G...
Is the "standard" Linn Sondek LP-12 surpassed by newer turntable brands and designs??
I am not an essentialist but would like to use this metaphor forthe Linn parts. The best part from the start was the platter. Amongthe many improvements I think that the new bearing (the old onewas leaking) with the subshassis and new springs are ...
Micro Seiki MA 505 vs Triplanar MK VII UII
cleeds, You are repeating my question without any answer becauseyour ''suspition'' does not answer anything. I stated my own ''suspition'' but about my own Triplanar and asked other owners if their Triplanar  has the same, say, deviation. To satif...
Kuzma tables/arms?
The German logician/mathematician Frege differenciated between''sense'' (say 'meaning') and reference such that different meaningmay refer to the same thing. If I remember well our members Dertonarm and Syntax described ''organic'' as ''physical p...
