Old Amps that can still Kick Butt
Maybe not 'vintage' but I still like the way my Madrigal Proceed HPA2 drives my similar era Aerial Acoustic 7B towers. They need a lot of horsepower and the Proceed seems to deliver. But my breadth of experience is....narrow. Regardless, I feel no ...
Do you have a "Music" Friend?
No. Not when it comes to serious listening. My wife will occasionally be in the room when I’m seriously listening but she is usually reading and barely listening. We enjoy listening to music together but not in the audiophile sense. Music is playin...
The Black Keys - Delta Kream
Great article. Thanks for the link. I never saw Junior or RL but I've seen some of their kids and grandkids play at the Juke Joint Festival in Clarksdale, Mississippi. (I lived in Clarksdale as a child). My wife and I go to the Juke Joint Festival...
What are you streaming tonight?
Khruangbin - Mordechai, good stuff. Style/class of its own. But I like their middle album, Con Todo El Mundo, better. Also listened to The Black Keys Delta Kream recently. That stuff is right up my alley since I’m already a Junior Kimbrough and RL ...
The Black Keys - Delta Kream
Listening to the album now. I knew it had Junior Kimbrough covers but there are also R.L. Burnside covers. Awesome! I have not researched titles I don’t recognize and don’t know if some of these songs are originals.I don’t really care. The Black K...
Jazz for someone who doesn't like jazz.
@stuartk and @franklinb66 Thanks. I will look into those as well.

A thought about this thread: I check here often to look for new music to listen to. I like Qobuz but it sucks when it comes to recommending stuff based on your previous listening. As far as I can tell it does not have that feature at all and I mig...

@ovinwar, I have found some of U2's later recordings to be that way, in particularly Achtung Baby. Sounds fine in the cars or MP3 w/ ear buds. Can hardly listen to it on my main system.Right now, listening to Art Blakey - Moanin'
Classe' Sigma SSP. Is it outdated?
It did finally sell. I don't remember how much I got for it. The money went to the estate.

@jjss49: I will certainly look into Kenny Burrell. Thanks.@stuartk: Thanks for those recommendations as well.

stuartk, I am branching out with the artists you mentioned. I think I'm drawn now to the late bop and early modal stuff. As for your question, I'm not sure.  I think it will take some more thought since I like all of the songs. Probably not sophist...

The Black Keys - Delta Kream
I love the song but it sounds terribly compressed to me. All of their other stuff is too.For those interested, check out Jimmy "Duck" Holmes, a modern blues man from Mississippi. Auerbach plays some on his latest album. Maybe produces it as well?A...
The Black Keys - Delta Kream
Just listened to Crawling Kingsnake........sounds just like Auerbach's take on Junior Kimbrough......which is what I like so much about Chulahoma. I think I'm going to love this album.
The Black Keys - Delta Kream
I look forward to hearing it. I like the band. I like what they have done with and for a number of blues men. Loved their last album but my favorite is still Chulahoma.
