Do you have a speaker that’s not a big name maker but punches above its weight? Why? My Spatial Sapphire M5s have served me well. They have a really wide soundstage (hence the name). Before them, I had KEF R300s that were too tinny for my ears—and my wife’s. The Spatials were twice the price, but so worth the upgrade. Spatial is a...
What is your vinyl commitment? I have a Technics SL 1210 G turntable with a Sumiko Starling cartridge and a Parasound JC3 Jr. phonostage. For cleaning, I have a Pro-ject vacuum machine. So about $8,000 total investment. But if you add the cost of records to that, it’s more like...
New vs uses in your current setup My streamer and my cartridge are new because they have the shortest shelf life. My other components are also new, but I have no good reason for that now that I think about it.
Chair I had back trouble for two years after a car accident. Chairs became a huge concern. The best thing I did was read a short book by John Sarnos M.D. called Healing Your Back Pain. It was a life changer. Soon, the comfy recliner became a luxury, not...
Picking speakers 3000-5000 budget I really like my Spatial open baffle speakers. Yoi can find used ones in your price range. They are a bit under the radar, but the money they save on advertising is money the buyer saves as well. At least that's my take. Lots of reviews out there.
What were your favorite gear additions in 2024? Sumiko Starling cartridge, replacing Ortofon LVB 250. The Starling is my first dive into MC. The LVB was good, but the Starling makes the music more present. Everything jumps off the needle a little more, in a good way.
Starting my showroom again I live in Nashville and I believe I bought my Parasound Hint amp from you back in the day (and you gave me a great deal). I was disappointed to find out your shop had closed cause I wanted to support what you do. I think you would get some busines...
Anyone else having trouble with Roon? Glad to report that soon after I posted my Roon issue to Audiogon, my playlists magically appeared, all synched. I didn’t do anything but log in. The equalizer function (Muse) doesn't work, but this is definitely progress.
MC cartridge for Clearaudio Concept 1600$ I just got a Sumiko Starling for my Technics SL 1210-G turntable. The Starling is an MC cart with a price point between the Hana ML and the Unami Blue. I don't hear a lot about this cartridge on this forum, but every review I read from other sourc...
My experience with The Music Room I like TMR and have had good experiences with them as a buyer. But before you buy a used item from them (or anyone), I suggest requesting the serial number of the item so you can check with the manufacturer on its actual age. I bought from TMR onc...
Have you asked yourself this question? I own about 400 records, purchased used, and the ones I've kept are without surface noise. Including the cost of my vinyl rig, I've made roughly a $12,000 total investment in the platform. That $12,000 could get me a decent streamer, but not a top...
Vinyl Lovers Find sellers you trust on Discogs and go back to them and only to them. That's my suggestion. I have 5 or 6 go-to sellers that never do me wrong. It took some trial and error to land with these guys, but so well worth it. A few of my sellers of ch...
Can I Trust The Music Room's Product Description? I bought from Nick too, I believe, and he was great. This time wasn't as smooth, but they are working with me now to make things better. I learned from this experience. Next time I buy used from any dealer, I will ask up front if they can tell me ...
Can I Trust The Music Room's Product Description? Yes, The Music Room did address it. Although they can’t get the Chord 3-year warranty to me, we going to work out a compromise solution. As many users on this site attest, the company seems to have a good support team that responds to customer iss...
Harbeth 40.3's. Should I buy them? Why doesn't your wife doesn't like the Spatial X3s? |
