talkskiwon,Since you state that your local dealers sell high priced equipment... might I suggest that you look for dealers up to an hour drive away... that sell more modest priced equipment.Take your speakers with you to audition them with any pro...

Yeah...  the Yammy stuff does lean to the cool side, so I could see it getting a bit analytical with the Adcom amp.  I can see where the B&K amp would pair nicely with the Yamaha.
What do you say to your audiophile friends who say you just listen to your equipment more
A number of years back... a few of my friends and I used to get together for "card night" once a week.We would rotate houses... and when it came to my turn to host... the others would start looking through my vinyl collection and making requests.T...

Best Way for my TT to reach my Pre-Amp!?
To those recommending Blue Jeans cable for TT's...They are a decent cable... but for the next step up, for not much more money I would recommend trying the Analysis Plus Oval One.To my ears it was a definite upgrade.

Craigert,Keep in mind that a typical 1 meter set of RCA interconnects will add roughly 100pf on their own...  +/- 15pf.  Some designs/manufacturers start out way higher than that.Since you say you make your own cables... I will obstain from any re...
Turntable/Subwoofer Ground loop
You didn't say what turntable and cart you are using. If per chance you have a DD turntable, and are using a moving iron cartridge, (such as a Grado), this is most likely your problem.  The moving iron cart picks up emi from the DD motor.
The Truth About Power Cords and there "Real" Price to Performance
I should add that it was the original Venom from a few years back.  It's been sitting around collecting dust because I was having a hard time finding a good spot for it.During some recent interconnect and PC changes... I tried it on the Oppo. Yuck...
The Truth About Power Cords and there "Real" Price to Performance
@turnbowm I can't anwer that specifically... but there was a definite change in frequency response.  Only way I can describe it, is that the highs went super airy to the point they were piercing... and the vocal range disappeared almost to the poi...
Types of speakers to create nightclub style sound?
Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see any mention of room size as I scanned this thread.I've seen some good suggestions:KlipschAltecCerwin VegaMTXOhm... and a few others.Pretty much any decent sized box speaker with a minimum 10" woofer works well. ...
