XLR to RCA adapters I use to use rca to xlr hybrid connector from cdp to preamp. that was with an Aleph P and X600 monos. I wanted to take advantage of the increased balanced gain feature of my preamp. Everything sounded fine. Then I got the eAR2 and it sounded awful...
Pass Aleph series with Apogee?? Oops, now I agree with Carlton. Audio relationships are a fickle lot.
Digital amp on IRS Beta?? I have the eAR2 on my speakers, and I've never heard anything close.
amps for a new Jmlabs Be altos You don't need monos. The Acoustic Reality eAR2 will blow you out of the room if you so desire. I sold my Pass labs for the eAR. It is so much faster, clearer, and it's bass is wow!
Is solid state on the brink of extinction? You haven't heard the Acoustic Reality amps yet. I have heard the Evo and the TacT. the TacT is better than the Canto with any music. The eAR betters the TacT in that it can drive any load, and sounds fluid.
Apogee Duetta Signature: Optimum placement Way off topic, you dredging up old history. Almost all Apogees will have to be pulled from their dead owner's hands. Except possibly for old Quads, I don't know of a more coveted line of discontinued speakers. The Apogee is so great a speaker, ther...
Apogee Duetta Signature: Optimum placement My Duetta Sigs had been owned by two others before me, and have traveled through two hands since. I think most Apogee buyers will gravitate towards stock models, unless they know the history of the mod. While owning the Duettas, I tirelessly watch...
Apogee Duetta Signature: Optimum placement Khrys, only you would read "stupid" into my intentions. All I am saying is the Duetta's embracing sound is far easier to coax than the Stage, or Scintilla, having owned both. It is common knowledge among Apogee lovers the Scintilla and Stage are a...
Apogee Duetta Signature: Optimum placement Duettas are very forgiving when it comes to placement. That is, compared to other Apogees. I had mine all over the place without noticing major sound shifts. With my Scintillas, that is another matter entirely. The position you have them now is re...
Which components knocked you out on first listen? There has been no match to my first experience with the Apogee Scintilla for a knock out experience, until I heard the Acoustic Reality eAR 2 MKII on Scintillas. That was an equally mind blowing experience.
Is solid state on the brink of extinction? Iseekheils, The Enigma does not come balanced. A single eAR 2 will suffice for any load and is balanced. My speakers are very large 1 ohm 76db affairs. The eAR amps also are available in a mono version. the PS sounds good, but is outclassed in sou...
Which components knocked you out on first listen? R - Where was that? - an Apogee Scintilla owner.
Is solid state on the brink of extinction? You are right. Peter of Acoustic Reality worked on the ICE module for B&O.
Is solid state on the brink of extinction? Rgcards, your post is right on target. There is going to be a rush for manufacturers to try to get on to the feeding chain. I feel like I am watching a Jiffy Pop pan, and the first kernels have popped. You know what happens next. The ICE module is ...
Is solid state on the brink of extinction? True, they are only sold direct. I think it is a poor marketing ploy. This new module wave is in it's infancy. Acoustic Reality had the only ICE powered amp for two years. With proper manufacturing, and a good market strategy, they could have made... |
