SS amp mosfet 'haze' - ever experienced this? I have a speaker that is as revealing as the Wilson Benesch, the Apogee Scintilla. With this speaker all upstream component gliches are easily discernable. I have previously employed the well respected Pass Labs X600 mosfet (Hexfet) amp to run the...
Magnepan 3.6r or Apogee Divas? Mama, this is a startup company. A chasis builder of good quality has been secured, and they are now gearing up for production, which should begin in a month. A web site is awaiting pictures. Some of us Apogee club members have been lucky enough t...
Magnepan 3.6r or Apogee Divas? Wrong. The maker is Virginia citizen, Henry Ho. Watch for upcoming reviews.
Magnepan 3.6r or Apogee Divas? Good point, Dkarmeli. I have bellowed against mods some Apogee owners have flocked to. As I stated above, the H2O is all an Apogee owner needs. It is based on the analogue module built by B&O. It's sound is akin to that of SET amps, but with a...
Magnepan 3.6r or Apogee Divas? No speaker is hard to drive with the advent of the $2k H2O. The best of all Apogees, IMO, is the 1 ohm Scintilla. That too is easy to drive.
Magnepan 3.6r or Apogee Divas? Buy the Diva, put a couple of H2O amps behind them, and you will never look back.
Magnepan 3.6r or Apogee Divas? The Apogee Diva is hard to beat, given any other speaker, other than other big Apogees. Terry is right in saying amps that can power the Diva are plentiful. Given the Diva is a 4 ohm speaker, it has always been fairly easy to find tube and solid s...
SS/Mono Amps Warm,Musical,Detailed Those who have heard any Rowland and the far less expensive H2O have judged the H2O a clear winner.
Sacramento, California My apologies to anyone who emailed me over the last several months. All of my past mail as vanished into the ether, due to an unwitting error on my part. I am anxious for people to hear the H2O on my Scinnies. After having introduced the new techn...
Sacramento, California I'm here, in Midtown. I know of no-one using Magnepan. As for dipoles, we have Martin Logan, Apogee, and Soundlab. You should come down to my place to have a listen to an Apogee before you make up your mind.
Mods to Apogee Scintillas? Henry Ho does live in Virginia, near Richmond. Henry is a gracious host, and loves to share his Apogees and amps.
Mods to Apogee Scintillas? The Scintilla 1 ohm stands alone. It has benefited the most through the use of new ICE amps. Bel Canto can't do Scintillas. t least one member I know of has sold his Evo Gen II amps in favor of H2O amps. Divas, Duettas, and Calipers are the other ...
Mods to Apogee Scintillas? I have used both the stereo H2O and the mono version. Both can drive the 1 ohm Scintilla to high volume. Henry Ho is retooling now. He has found a new chasis builder that will greatly lessen his labor. This will regretably result in a several week...
What are "Full range speaker" I can't think of anything that generates a 20Hz note. However, there are plenty of natural phenomena that generate sounds incorporating 20Hz frequency in part. For that matter, much lower frequencies too.
What are "Full range speaker" S23chang, where did you get that figure from? Sources I know of say 20hz is the human low range limit. My speakers do -1+1db sub 20hz to beyond 20khz. But then, they are three way. |
