Digital Amp's
My Pass had zero feedback. These days, zero feedback is not an unusual thing. In fact, there are "digital" amps that employ zero feedback.
Digital Amp's
Faziod, There are people, including I, who have heard the H2O, and very fine Class A amps, on the same system. None preferred the Class A. BTW, No H2O has gone to anyone for a mod, other than the builder.
Digital Amp's
You can't judge ICE amps one any one you've heard. I've owned two, and heard three. It's hard to believe they all share the same PWM module.PWM amps are more system dependent than any solid state I've owned. They love big power supplies in all att...

If you want a polite sound get a class A amp. If your liking is more towards "real" get the ICE powered H2O Signature.
Best digital cable to audition?
I believe the AN digital was English, knowing what store it was sourced from. It was terminated in AN silver. I think that may have made a difference. You can get these silver terminals from Parts Express for about $35. One of the cords it was tes...
Best digital cable to audition?
Interesting observation Albert.A group of us audio nuts tested a half dozen digital cables. All but one sounded the same to all ears. That one is the Virtual Dynamics Masters. It was definitely better. All the others couldn't be told apart, includ...
Amp for Apogee Stage's
Doctor,I'm the wrong person to be defending tubes. The only ones left in my stereo chain are in my DAC. And, I won't be defending solid state either. My PWM monos have buried any interest I may have had in the best of them. Both types of convention...
Amp for Apogee Stage's
Doctor,Have you owned the Apogee Stage? I found it a considerably easier load than the Duetta, and by a long shot, the Scintilla. RGocin knows what I'm talking about. There are people happily using tube gear on all Apogees, but the Scintilla. There...
Amp for Apogee Stage's
Doctor, I used a Jolida 1000, on the four ohm tap of my Stages. The Jolida handled the load with aplomb. Yes, it was somewhat syrupy, but that is just byproduct of lower echelon tube gear. I ran a Pass X150 on Duettas. Apogee hasn't made speakers ...
Amp for Apogee Stage's
My Stage had a lot of great bass matched with a tube amp. One shouldn't feel nervous about an Apogee. The Stage does not need a brute amp to sound great. It is more important to have a clean sounding amp that is at least moderately strong. You don...
Amp for Apogee Stage's
The Stage likes tube amps. Another winner would be one of the new ICE amps. I'm using one of the more expensive ones, the H2O, on the Stage's big brother, the Scintilla. Jjaz makes a less expensive ICE amp. it's a honey for the price.
What's the better, High Powered SS Amp?
David, I am sure the Boulder amp is a great solid state amp. For something totally knew, try the H2O Signature monos. I know I will never go back to SS.
What's the better, High Powered SS Amp?
Hey, even in the privacy of my home? Maybe that's why I'm drawn towards female singers. :-DAnybody in CA are welcome to my place to see what I mean.
What's the better, High Powered SS Amp?
Are you talking to me, or any of the above? I don't mind.My speakers are the infamous, but fabulous, 1 ohm Apogee Scintilla. I like nonupsampling, and have a PSA Lambda transport feeding a highly enhanced Audio Note DAC. The preamp is a one of a k...
What's the better, High Powered SS Amp?
I gave up on solid state, after my last one, the Pass X-600. I have found much better performance with the new technology of the H2O Signature monos. They weigh a third as much, never get warm, let alone hot, draw just 10 watts at idle, and have b...
