Hi Holman, Henry heard my system there. Ask him what he thinks of it. There may have been a break in issue, but maybe not.
What do you see as the downside of tubes?
I had fun tube rolling my Jolida 100. There weren't that many brands, and they were fairly cheap, including the best, the 5751 Sylvania black plate. That is until other folks found they liked them too. Within months, the price grew by 10 times. Kn...

Audiofeil, [dealer] what are you doing here? You don't own the H2O. You are just a spoiler.

Souphero, the restored Scintillas will sound almost just like the older ones on any amp capable of running well at 1 ohm, and that is a precious few. A lot of folks are enjoying them. With say, a Krell, the top gains a bit of pepper. That's nice f...

Hey you hillbillies us flatlanders are just a choke commute away..... but that is only during rush hours. I have my Scintillas running as good as I care to for now. But as my bud Doug will say, there never is an end to this madness. I know I have ...

Hey Jjerry, it was lonely ......I am elated you like the HHO gear. I am getting flogged at the Apogee forum. Do me a favor, and make my ribbon SCs. I will mail you the simple instructions. Then turn your amps around to shorten the distance. You wi...
DAC with the best midrange ever.....
I agree with the no oversamplic votes. I have a simple 2.1 Audionote DAC that has had it's diodes switched out to fabulous sounding Shottkeys. That is important. The sound is way scary real.
Do all Class D amps lack soundstage depth?
I really don't think that amps have anything to do with sound stage width. That is a speaker's attribute, like mine, and their placement.
Do all Class D amps lack soundstage depth?
My preamp, the class A Fire by the same builder as my amps, is of utmost importance in my system's success. With the power part taken care of, and the cabling simplified to an onlooker's idea of absurdity, I only needed to perfect my source. I spe...
Do all Class D amps lack soundstage depth?
What goes between the amp and the speakers are the speaker cables, and that is a whole other story. My preamp was designed, because there were virtually no preamps good enough. You would have had to dig real deep in your pockets. Class D will spot...
Do all Class D amps lack soundstage depth?
The ICE 500A module, given an expert's power supply has the sweetest highs. That all depends on just what you feed it. I found that all oversampling players, including SACD players have a flat sound stage, unnatural highs, and just are devoid of l...
Do all Class D amps lack soundstage depth?
Tan43 and Nick778 are right. I have found, with my gear, almost all cables sound bad, as well as almost all CD players. This is a fact. I have not heard the amps named here, but I think I can assume my findings would apply to class D amps in gener...
NOS DAC or CDP?
Shadorne, I fail to see what jitter sounds like. My sound is supremely cohesive, detailed to the minutest signal, and wonderfully analog. OS DACs sound terrible, and I don't care which one. I can demonstrated the difference here, and have, numerou...
NOS DAC or CDP?
I don't do anything about jitter. Maybe that is because I am using a NOS DAC. From what I have heard, OS DACs do need jitter control, because the digital filter introduces phase instabilities. On my system OS DACs sound horribly contrived, not lik...
