Rogue vs Joule
Don't know about the synergy in that particular system, but I've heard the Rogue Athena and Hera sound awesome into M180 and Apollos, respectively. In the long run, I slightly preferred the Hera II over a VAC Ren III into my Apollos, and that's sa...
Seeking opinions on Clearaudio vs. SOTA tables
A friend and I listened more to the Innovation Compact. I'm totally smitten by its sound, even with JUST that $1200 Cadenza Red. When I started this thread, I really didn't know my dealer would be bringing in that Compact; perhaps he reads these b...
Seeking opinions on Clearaudio vs. SOTA tables
Also, I'm curious as to how much that Innovation Compact sound (which I liked very much) came from the Magnify tonearm. I do like its action & feel; a humongous improvement over their lower-line magnetic bearing arms. What might happen if I for...
Seeking opinions on Clearaudio vs. SOTA tables
Thanks again, Audiolui. My current speakers have good detail, superb PRaT, a warm tone, and ample bass impact, so it should be a good pairing.Any ideas on what is gained in moving from the Innovation Compact to the full Innovation Wood? The latter...
Seeking opinions on Clearaudio vs. SOTA tables
I auditioned the Innovation Compact a couple days ago -- on my prior speakers & preamp, a very similar amp (M180; 1 step down from my Rogue Apollo), and a cartridge I'm familiar with (Ortofon Cadenza Red); it was very impressive. VERY. I'm als...
Seeking opinions on Clearaudio vs. SOTA tables
Thanks again -- the more opinions, the better! I have to agree that the vacuum system makes me a lot less nervous than the ring clamp. I already tempt fate as it is just queueing the cartridge with a few drinks in me!I should add that I plan to st...
Seeking opinions on Clearaudio vs. SOTA tables
Thanks for the input so far. I should've mentioned in my initial post that I'm also very interested in the opinions of those who have moved up within either line.Talked to a trusted friend and he's also leaning me towards the SOTA upgrade route, t...
How Many Tweeters Does A Speaker Need??
A line-array like the Genesis is an altogether different beast than the 2-tweeter models. Line arrays do some cool things -- like losing only 3dB per doubling of distance (as opposed to 6dB), since there isn't significant vertical dispersion beyon...
Raysonic gone belly up, is this a hoax? Read on...
You know, the prices of the non-trash chinese tube gear has gone up to the point that high-value, domestically built brands like Rogue/Quicksilver/Manley[before their huge price increases]/etc are often more affordable! I know which product I'd ra...
any one give the Polk Lsi25 a good listen?
They aren't getting much love here, but my first 2ch experience years ago was at a Tweeter listening to the LSi25. My uninitiated ears like them a whole lot; they were a much more enjoyable listen than the other stuff in the store, which included ...
Are rig hours reversable?
If there was always a positive effect on SQ going forward, then we wouldn't have such a robust 2nd hand market for used gear :PWhen you don't like gear at first, and later you do, it's often attributed to burn-in. When you do like gear at first, a...
Cartridge Upgrade
I've had the Cadenza Back & Bronze predecessors -- Jubilee and Kontrapunkt "c". The Jubilee was not warm in my system; the Benz Wood M2 and "c" were warmer. All the Kontrapunkt/Cadenza Ortofons will have a smoother treble than the Benz at that...
Effect on Value if I Update Speakers?
Spring clips suck real bad, so you certainly won't be hurting value. But then it probably won't help much either. The typical "audiophile" mods (caps, resistors, wire, clocks etc) are where you can start throwing buckets of money right out the win...
Life after Polk LSI15's---SUGGESTIONS
I started off with LSi9 and LSi15 several years ago. The LSi9 were nice, but I never could get used to the bass section of the 15. Coming from high-end headphones and thus being accustomed to well-integrated and well-controlled bass, those 8" side...
As I look at all these posts
It proves that it is very, very easy to manufacture a decent cable (using others' parts, or spec'ing out parts for others to manufacture), and that it's potentially very profitable. Even if only until the self-marketing momentum of the new company...
