Dartzeel NHB-508, Any Price Info Yet? I've had the pleasure of listening to the NHB-508's and I say if you can afford them they're worth it. I can't afford them today, so i'll live with my 108's for some time to come. But I've never heard the Evolution MM3's driven to the kind of leve...
The best speaker you ever heard? The best speakers I heard are the ones that disappeared ...
Grand Prix Audio Monaco Turntable Downunder, nice historical titbit there ... the Dragon cassette player was a classic also!
Grand Prix Audio Monaco Turntable Aaron, I agree with what you state ... off centre LPs are for sure not a positive impact on perfect vinyl playback. But if you compound that imperfection with other imperfect engineering solutions, there's simply even more distortion upon distorti...
The best speaker you ever heard? Great observations Dan, at least if someone says "these are the best speakers I've ever heard" nobody can argue with them. As a personal experience is always true to oneself, and alas, with more experiences comes changing opinion. That makes this ...
Playback Designs MPS-5 Review in Stereophile Dave you're right...poor sod...we should feel sorry for guys like that...
Playback Designs MPS-5 Review in Stereophile Jb0194, thanks for looking at my system and providing INvaluable feedback, but then again...perhaps not!
Playback Designs MPS-5 Review in Stereophile Dave, you didn't dream that there was a large thread on the Playback Designs MPS-5 and MF's review recently in Stereophile. It was mostly favorable to the PD player. In summary, a player outperforming the $70K Scarlatti, concidered a benchmark, pr...
The best speaker you ever heard? Nice one Bbro! Not sure about the 4 years, bad ones have lasted 8 years too, recently!
The Alan Parson's Project Mapman,Great that you have a MFSL copy of I Robot, have you compared it to a pristine original pressing? IMHO the original is fantastic for 140 gr, quiet, full scale dynamics. I love it!
DCS Puccini and/or Soulution 740 players? Anyone?? There are several websites out there:referencerecordings.comacousense.comultraaudio.com2L.musiconline.nojust to name few, high-rez downloadable content is rapidly growing. I tried using Mac too, didn't work. You're better off with a asio4all drive...
DCS Puccini and/or Soulution 740 players? Anyone?? Cleop, thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I agree with you on the sound of the Meridian vs EMM/DCS. The PD/DZ pre run very well on normal IC too, I had my PD connected with the Evolution Acoustics SE interconnects before the 50 Ohm ...
DCS Puccini and/or Soulution 740 players? Anyone?? Interesting Cleop, the long-time Meridian dealer here said they could be upgraded...Comparing can be a tricky thing, isolating only exactly one component with another. Don't you think? You have the 808.2? May I ask what system you run this with?
DCS Puccini and/or Soulution 740 players? Anyone?? Clavil, I didn't visit that room, but I know the Puccini and the Thiel's sound ... don't get me wrong the sound in these rooms were very, very good, and some have certain outstanding qualities, just overall not THE BEST to my ears.
DCS Puccini and/or Soulution 740 players? Anyone?? Mert, I stand corrected, the Meridian we auditioned was the old 808 not the 808.2 which, as you correctly stated, does not play DVD-A! There is a way to upgrade the 808 to .2 but I'm not sure about the DVD-A capability. I think Meridian dropped it... |
