Speakers cables that are warm yet detailed........
you can't have both. if you want warmth achieve the desired warmth and settle for the detail that comes with it.if you want resolution, determine the level of resolution that you want and accept whatever warmth occurs. it is easier to approach you...
My system is bright? I need help. thanks
i have heard the resolution audio several times and recently two consonance cd players.neither of the players reminds me of the timbre of an instrument. while i might agree thay are not egregiously annoying players, they are a bit on the analytica...
Beginner/ Starter cables
it's about taste. it's not sufficient to recommend cables, or any other component without an indication of your sonic preferences.if you don't have any at this time, it is not fair to recommend a cable.
My system is bright? I need help. thanks
i owned a musical fidelity a5 and have listened to musical fidelity based systems many times. the musical fidelity components are ruthless.i have lived with acoustic interconnect cables--interconnect and speaker. they are not warm.eggleston speake...
Ok this will be a good thread.
it's not the equipment or the music that makes the biggest difference in your overall experience of listening to music. it is the listener.a good mood, positive attitude etc., can offset mediocre stereo systems and/or mediocre recordings. you can ...
CAL Alpha and an Equalizer
hi markd51:i have a cal alpha and have tried a variety of tubes and have found the dac insensitive to tube changes.just for the record, have you found any tube which rolls off the treble and shifts the balance to the lower mid range ?the chinese t...
PRat: a DAC or transport thing?
prat is misunderstood. if you play a cd on two stereo systems, and both cd players are spinning the cd at the same speed, the elapsed time will be the same for each stereo system. thus, the pace must be the same as well as the timing. if one perce...
does a stereo system sound like live music ?
the reference to 10 percent was based upon an article i had read in either absolute sound or stereophile.
what are your most favored recordings ?
thanks sogood51 foir the link. i listened to a couple of songs. all i can say is wow.i need to think of my favorite selections. it's hard because i may be in the mood for jazz or classical, new age, etc. at different times.i guess away of looking ...
what are your most favored recordings ?
hi dave:i went to tower.com and amazon.com and could not find any listings for archetribe. are these recordings out of print ??
what is good sound ?
when considering 2 speakers which are attenuated in the bass, one may be down 3 db at 40 hz, and the other may be down 6db at 40hz. both speakers are inaccurate.accurate is analogous to scoring a grade of 100 on a test.thus, there are degrees of i...
How's your music library?
i sort my lps and cds by label. within each label, i sort in numerical sequence. this is the easiest way to find a recording.i have about 1100 lps and about 1000 cds. i haven't been playing too many lps lately, partially because i am reviewing alo...
Planning for a possible face-off of DACs/CDPs
i would be careful with the minimax player. it has a coolish tonal balance. read my review on audiophilia.com.as for cd players around $1000, consider the cec 3300 or 3300r and the quad cdp 2 (used).
what is good sound ?
my suggestion does not require a cello. it can rely on an instrument that anyone can "play". since it is always available, there is no need to be dependent upon acoustic memory.if you replace components, it is an approach which gives you an idea a...
what is good sound ?
there is a simple but not perfect solution as indicated below:take a single instrument, such as a cymbal.obtain a decent digital recording device.measure the distance between the cymbal and the microphone, and make a recording in your listening ro...
