Quad ESL owners question most "box" speakers sound "boxy", whereas panel speakers do not have box calibrations.i guess one man's trash is another's treasure.for the record, i could live with any panel speaker, from magnepan to martin logans, apogees, audiostatic, analysis...
Are Harbeth S HL5's As Good As Reviewers Claim? i have heard harbeths and spendors many times. while they won't bite your ears, they have audible cabinet colorations. something that is absent from most panel speakers.
Quad ESL owners question the spendors and many other speakers having drivers in cabinets have cabinet colorations. the differences between spendors, proacs, rogers, etc., and quad 57s are huge. while there is no explanation for taste, i find it surprising that anyone who ...
ICE Amps for classical music? the best way to optimize the performance of ice amps is to place them in an oven and set the temperature for say 100 degrees. leave in the oven until the ice melts. remove from oven and let them cool for a while. hook them up for warmer sound.

ICE Amps for classical music? i have heard two, but not the one you mention.at the time, i had another solid state amp and two tube amps on hand.i found the ice amps a bit "icy" sounding, i.e., very focused but not a pleasant experience unless recording quality was very good.
