Best sounding LP nobody else has ever heard of...
Absolutely Crack the Sky, Oilmanmojo!!! Excellent sonics and good music, especially amazing since John Palumbo recorded it in his basement! And if youre into Prog at all, try Spock's Beard. -MrMitch
Artists 'SELLING OUT' - can we discuss?
I would much rather see artists making money from their craft than have the situation faced by so many of the older black blues musicians. So many of them never had the rights to their music and so received nothing at all, not even royalties from ...
Acoustic Zen Adagio, How Good Are They?
Just wondering why there are always so many Adagios for sale here if theyre as good as so many say they are. Not knocking them, no axe to grind, just wonder why so many get rid of them as they are fairly new speakers.
Who Do You Credit For Getting You Into This Hobby?
Mary, You're right on about Albert. While I've never met him, he has been a tremendous help to lots of us. Like Boa2, I've played instruments (guitar, bass guitar, clarinet, saxophone) since the age of seven, so the music came first. I wasnt aware...
Anyone heard Salk Veracity HT3 speakers?
Thanks everyone for your responses thus far! Albert, I happened upon the Salk site quite by accident, and yes, that freq response info did catch my eye. I've read the reviews on Audioreview, which Koiman was kind enough to point me to (thanks Koim...
Coping in an Age of Uncertainty
Hey Vvrinc, you forgot number 11! The amount that one is a "true" audiophile goes up in direct proportion to the amount one imbibes just before listening.
Coping in an Age of Uncertainty
Hi all, I am waiting for something thats more than just an increment above redbook cd before I spring for a new format player. I've heard both SACD and DVD-A, and I dont feel either is light years above redbook cd. Besides, I have over five hundre...
Wadia ?
Ledoux, Sorry to hear your having trouble with Wadia, but your problems are all too familiar. I had my dealer send them my 830 for a repair, and after they had it for two months, I called them up and they had no idea what I was talking about. My d...
Integrated amp for Vandersteen 2CE signature.
I heard the Vandersteens powered by the Rogue integrated and they sounded great. Lots of depth, presence, good bass, the sound of drums being struck was very dynamic, timbres were very good.
when shutting down my system the speakers squak
Some amplifiers have capacitors that discharge when the power is shut down to them. Your SAE's might be one of these-I had a PS Audio amp that did that, it made an awful cracking sound when I shut it down, so I left it on all the time.
klipsch speakers,be honest
Hi Bigjoe, I owned the Heresy's in the eighties, and while I liked the dynamic range and the bass, I never much cottoned to the midrange response or the timbre of the instruments or voice. I ran them with a CJ PV-5 tubed preamp and a carver amp at...
Anyone else having trouble getting Wadia repairs?
Thank you all who responded, I found your input very insightful and helpful. Edwards, my post was very respectful and I did not knock Wadia, I simply asked if anyone else was experiencing a similar problem in getting timely repairs done. I think t...
What's your profession? Age?
Respiratory therapist, age 55, married, no kids(ahh, i can see you all nodding). Played instruments since age 7, guitar and bass in bands in teens and twenties, so music was always important. Been in this hobby since '86 and my system is around 15k...
Most achingly-beautiful music
Barber's "Adagio for Strings", Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up", Moody Blue's "Driftwood", and sorry for one extra, but Steeleye Span's "Gaudete".
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?
Impossible to pick just one due to so many different styles and originality: Jeff Beck, SRV, John Renbourn,Steve Hackett (not only with Genesis but solo and classical, listen to A Midsummer Night's Dream), John Mayer as an up and comer, Alex Lifes...
