Out of the mouth of babes
I feel that posts regarding ac power and grounding do not belong here. No offence intended, please don't take it personally. There's way too much questionable info that needs to be sorted through by inexperienced individuals.
Help: Audio Gremlins
I had the same problem with my 3.6s and Cary SLA 70 sig that powers the highs. A static like sound, sort of like a skipping stylus on a record. Tapped on the tubes tops gently until I found the one causing the noise. I tested the tube (E34L) but i...
Recomended tubes for my Cary Audio?
I agree with all of the above, RCA (or any red base) 5691 along with JJ E34L's. If you have 5u4g rectifiers, try GZ37's. These are Carys reccomendations for my SLA 70 sig. Sounds great!
Rotel 985 MK II enough for NHT 2.3As?
I owned a pair of 2.3A's and found them to need a great deal of current. They are actually a 4 ohm nominal load. I think the min imp was 2.5 ohms. You will be better off with a seperate 2 channel amp for the 2.3A's. Something rated a least 100w @8...
Listener magazine defunct ??
Hi knew something was wrong when the Bunnies weren't in the last issue. It was the only magazine that I really enjoyed reading. Oh well..........life goes on. RIP Listener
Maggie 3.6 amplification concern
I run my 3.6's with an active x-over. Cary SLA 70 Sig (35 watts class A tube) for the top and a Classe CA-400 (800 watts @ 4 ohms SS) for the bottom. You do need power (current?) to really get good bass. The Cary could drive the entire speaker, bu...

the tube forum at audio asylum has a lot of great info
Monarchy 24/96 DIP
I found that there were several variables that contributed to the performance of my Classe Dac1/CTD1 combo. When I first added the 24/96 DIP with a D-60 input and Orchid out, I noticed a bit more extension and air in the highs. As time went on, I ...
Talk About Static Cling...
Unfortunately I do not have a TT to experiment on. I was wondering, if Endust for Electronics helped a little, would it be too off the wall to try a dryer sheet under the LP? Bob D
Talk About Static Cling...
Static electricity is quite amazing. You either need to prevent it from building up, or find a way to bleed it off. Almost any insulated object traveling through the air will build up a static charge. What material it's made out of will help deter...
Talk About Static Cling...
Interesting question to post. I would think that the stylus running over the vinyl is causing a static charge to build up. The cartridge windings might be providing enough isolation so that the static does not disharge back through the phono secti...
What is your "evaluation cd"?
Glen, I've gotten most of my XRCD2's from Elusive Disc. The Jacintha is by FIM, the Eagles and Dire Straits are by JVC.

How to fight dirty power - I need your help
There is a lot of info on the web. Do a seach for "balanced power" on Yahoo or any other search engine. The most popular brands are Equi=Tech, Furman and Cinepro. Most of the regenerators (PS Audio power plants etc...) also have a balanced outputs...
another with the digital lens
I also have a Classe Dac and Cdt1. 27 or 28. No change using AT&T or Orchid AES/EBU. Bob D
