Good Speakers for Rock and Roll Under 15K
Dynamics and transients are key characteristics in producing lifelike sound. I never heard an 86db speaker excel at these, no matter what amp / amps were used. Keep in mind, rock and roll recordings are generally very compressed, compared to class...
Jim Winey (Magnepan) has passed away.
RIP, and my condolences to his family and friends. Yes, a true legend !
McIntosh 2.1kw amplifier?
It is quite interesting how I am the one to get a response from the op, when I am obviously not alone. So, do you listen to music, or have your curiosities for information taken over your time ? Have a nice day. MrD
McIntosh 2.1kw amplifier?
@roxy54 As the 1st to respond on this thread, you would know nice, or not nice. My best, MrD

Your greatest high end audio purchase!!!
After 50+ years, I am beginning to think, it is my latest acquisition, from my friend Tim ( rawsonte ). Tim advertised a diy F4, the F4 being one of a hand full of Pass amps I have little experience with. Using my very much needed Usher P307A, it ...
McIntosh 2.1kw amplifier?
So much hatred and disgust here. @emergingsoul , I am just a curious fellow. You seem to post a lot, of benign things that seem to matter a lot to you, making me wonder if you ever take time to listen to music. BTW, the new Infinity QX80, with Kli...
Using PA Speakers In A Home "Audiophile" Application!
Not many speakers can output ’ what I want, and expect ’, out of a speaker. Every time I listen, I am truly blown away by the " experience ". Listening through my Lascalas, at the decibels I enjoy, it IS an experience. Let me just say....I use an ...
Using PA Speakers In A Home "Audiophile" Application!
When Paul Klipsch designed / introduced the Lascala, it was for PA use. I was the 1st in Brooklyn to have a pair for home use...going back a ways.
Anyone own a Red Rose Preamp?
@geworthomd The Mantissa being spoke of is a preamp. My best, MrD.
Recommend a non-polite sounding amp / integrated
@cdc Yes sir !
Eliminated my preamp with amazing results
As many who know of me here, I have been generally barking up the tree, how wonderful my totl single ended Luminous Audio passive has been. Recently, I acquired from my friend rawsonte ( negative comments keep to yourselves ), a diy FW F4. Obvious...
Recommend a non-polite sounding amp / integrated
Just as an fyi. I am enjoying a recent acquisition to my ’small’ amp collection ( small = quantity ). LOL. Not funny actually, as I have WAY too many amps ( and preamps ), all over my place. DIY FW F4, by my friend rawsonte ( keep all negative com...
Recommend a non-polite sounding amp / integrated
Yes, it is a Warp One.....And btw, what does 'non polite' mean ? My interpretation of a non polite amp would be the old Crown DC 300.
Recommend a non-polite sounding amp / integrated
I had an LSA Time Warp for 3 weeks, purchased from Wally. It was horrible in my system....used passive, pre with gain, could not get it to do anything well. However, my best bud also bought one at same time ( on my recommendation no less ), and he...
