Speakers selection Strange question; being amp designers, you should know what speakers mate well?Try to hear the Living Voice Auditoriums with your amps; they are bloody great with tubes.
Need speaker suggestions for my evolving system! I’ve heard Totems at shows and liked them a lot. Haven’t heard the Forest Sigs but to answer your question anyway, they’ll undoubtedly play louder and more comfortably than the Arros. Larger cabinet volume plus 6.5" vs 4.5" midwoofer means higher ...
how would you describe a system that is musical in nature In a demo, play well-recorded music that you love and know well, especially songs that'd get you dancing and your head nodding. If you can hear well into the track and you respond to the sound, then it's a winner. Conversely, certain speakers give...
Need speaker suggestions for my evolving system! Why not get bigger Totems? Larger drivers, more drivers, high senstivity; will give the same sound signature but more dynamics and higher SPLs.
Best Desktop Speakers under $500 I’d consider active biamped monitors with 5" drivers if on desk; get some nice litle stands like IsoAcoustics. The Mackie CR5X has a cute green trim; well in budget. The IK MTM would be a step up for nearfield from the built-in DSP and D'Appolito ...
Will sun exposure damage my speakers? UV is not good in the long term for most modern surrounds, cones and dome materials.
Help! need informed opinion ATC SCM 11 (or 12 Pro variant); would think these would beat the Aerials and Dynaudios, but you should demo if possible or get something that can be returned.
3way replacement for my 2way Taste is a big factor. Personally, Focal is just not for me, I find them to have a tilted up signature (often bright), making it picky with gear.Demo is definitely the best way to go.
3way replacement for my 2way Oops, I always miss the budget constraint. 3-ways for this amount are thin on the ground. Have a look at that Philharmonic BMR design, or look for used. I wouldn't personally bother with the Wharfedale/KLH new products.
Drivers survived I don't know a ton about these kind of devices, but there are active LR4 boards available from Xkitz that look like they might do the same job; perhaps less fault sensitive than your current solution.
Drivers survived What equipment caused the fault?
Speaker and amp pairing Here’s how I think of speaker sizing and amp matching:how big is the room - size the speakers accordinglyhow loud do you like to listen - speaker sensitivity and thus amp power should be able to produce the desired db/SPL (can check with any calcu...
3way replacement for my 2way ATC SCM40 is an overwhelmingly strong choice here; you’ll get a far more natural, detailed and balanced sound and one of the best midranges out there.A standmount 3-way option is the Philharmonc BMR, though I’ve not heard these myself.I used to ha...
ATC SCM50ASL Pro vs ATC SCM 50ASLT I didn't know that. The internal chamber volume for the bass driver should be the same, so the difference you mention would be down to acoustic reflections from an open stand vs an elongated baffle, sides and rear; perhaps room gain depending on p...
Auricap XO vs ClarityCap CSA Yes I can read.I’ve not used these specific caps, but I use Audience speaker cable and interconnects (demoed many leading brands at the same price) and they sound excellent. If their caps have the same "voicing" then I think they’d be excellent. T... |
