VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D To be entirely fair the pressure on a main bearing can be up to 50 tons/sq inch and stylus forces commensurately large but who's counting ;)
VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D On a note of clarification when I mentioned the effect might be worse for line contact I was of course referring to the listening experience not the "wobble" effect ;) :)If it is wobbling then spherical or elliptical might notice it less ;)
Bass distortion-Playing LP's only,,,,please help Mains,Townsend's research looks pretty convincing. £1400 asking price does take the breath away :OWhile I was browsing the Townsend I happened to notice someone with a pair of Montis was actually using Podiums to solve the OPs problem! It looks som...
VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D Dear Stringreen,I think what Raul may be referring to is the eccentricity as the uni transcends a warp. If you videoed it then played it back in slow motion you'd see the cart wobble from side to side. My guess is that the effect might be worse wi...
VPI 2nd Pivot for 3D Raul, lndeed the VPI may now be as stable over warps as the Phantom. It must be said that many people out there are still enjoying great satisfaction with "true" unipivots despite their minor foibles and idiosyncrasies :)Enjoy the music!
Has Anyone Heard the (fairly) New Technics Grand Class TT? Dweller, to be precise, the drives are single rotor and dual rotor as the design is strongly marketed as "coreless". Sorry to be a pedant! ;)
Bass distortion-Playing LP's only,,,,please help OP, personally, I would tend to explore the rumble filter option last rather than first.Have you tried messing with the sub-woofer bass contour controls? Mine are 4.5ft from the front wall but I still need a sizeable bass cut to avoid overwhelming...
Bass distortion-Playing LP's only,,,,please help Czarivey, it works wonderfully well, thank you for asking. ;^) On the other hand it’s not entirely clear what is being asked as the question is somewhat nebulous? The first argument was EMI based but now the goalposts have moved? Are you a...
Bass distortion-Playing LP's only,,,,please help Those panels generate an electrostatic field not a magnetic one. To generate powerful magnetic fields requires high current (magnetic flux is proportional to current). The aforementioned field is also constrained within the stators.Magneplanars wou...
Bass distortion-Playing LP's only,,,,please help Czarivey said :-"It's not acoustic feedback to worry about it's EM resonance between cartridge and speakers"This is nothing more than scaremongering. You'll find most audiophiles, including myself, will have learned to place sensitive gear e.g. CR...
Bass distortion-Playing LP's only,,,,please help Krelldog, take heart my friend. By way of encouragement : I use a T/T of almost identical mass/config.It is situated in the worst possible place – a corner. There is an ML active bass cabinet right next to the T/T (Vantage)The stand simply consi...
Bass distortion-Playing LP's only,,,,please help (Sorry Raul ;)
Bass distortion-Playing LP's only,,,,please help Good advice above Krelldog but one other thing worth trying : the Montis active bass will (I presume) have a bass roll off control. I've always felt with MLs bass output that "less is more". Try introducing a few dbs cut (say -4 setting on each or...
garrard 301 and its' restorations Oddly enough it wasn't particularly audible. No more so than warped or non-concentric discs i.e. all vinyl records but with varying degrees of severity ;)Cheers,
garrard 301 and its' restorations I've seen it on belt drives but not idlers. The phenomenon was referred to as "breathing", possibly attributable to an imbalanced platter combined with unilateral pull from the belt. All the best |
