Your favorite LP nobody has ever heard of
Mine would be the first Warren Zevon LP, "Warren Zevon". His debut album is wonderful.
Rega arm vs Sumiko
"I never noticed the degrade that a detachable headshell supposedly causes."Agreed. I've owned hundreds of arms and a lot of them had detachable headshells. I never noticed any degradation either.
Hurst motor rumble?
I know that VPI is now using a custom made 600rpm motor. Still from Hurst, but not available from Hurst directly as a replacement, you have to order it from VPI. I've read that it is supposeably better, (not sure in what regards). You could contac...
Rega arm vs Sumiko
I really like the MMT arm. I've owned many of them. I've also owned a lot of the Regas. If you got the Rega upgraded with new wiring, (Incognito) and a new counterweight, (Groove Tracer) it would be close with the Rega maybe a little better. These...
Hurst motor rumble?
I'm confused. Why would you even "drop the stylus onto a stationary object next to the platter"? Unless you are cleaning the stylus and if you are you should mute the preamp. Then you say to perform the test "you need deep bass". So are you actuall...
What could have gone wrong?
If you have any other source; cd player, music streamer, even a cassette deck or tuner would help you determine if the source is the problem or if it's the amp or preamp. It sounds like you might have a tube(s) that went down.
Cartridge impedance loading question
Stringreen...the OP's Lehmann has dip switches inside. He could put the cover back on, but leave the screws off until he found the right setting. I think even you could handle that? :-)
Cartridge impedance loading question
I'd start with the 100 ohm setting, but the settings are pretty easy to switch. Try them all and see what sounds better.
Traveling never going to happen??? need advice
It would depend on if I had a large enough vehicle to get the speakers all the way inside, (like a large cargo van without rear seats). Where I live, the weather can change really quickly, so they would have to be covered and safely secured the wh...
favorite phono cartridge
Koetsu Coralstone Signature Platinum
New AudioTechnica moving coils SF2-thru 7??
Can you provide a link to the E-Bay ad? I looked, (even under completed and sold listings) and didn't see anything.
Tonearm ID
That looks like the tonearm off of a Garrard Zero series table. Probably a 100/1000/2000.
How do I connect a separate CD transport
You could if you could find a tech that could add a digital INPUT to your unit. It might cost more than it's worth, but I'm pretty sure it could be done.
Replacement capacitors for CJ PV-7
Mundorf makes great caps. I personally like the Auricaps, but have used Mundorf many times.BTW, break-in for "boutique" caps can sometimes take several hundred hours, so be patient. I have used the link that Peter provided many times. I find it ve...
Woofer thump when preamp comes out of standby
I just posted this on the other thread:I'm assuming you are talking about the auto-warm up feature on the PV7 that stays muted for about 45-60 seconds after turn on?Your PV7 inverts phase through the line stage, but not the phono stage.Did you swa...
