Why do dealers do this?
I've had the opposite experience in Denver. With almost no exceptions I've created relationships with people who are very knowledgeable, patient, and truly care. Maybe you should call the store owner (assuming it's not a big store) and talk to him...
Anything new with digital room correction?
My Lyngdorf DPA-1 sure does the trick without changing the music (I've done exaustive listening testing around this using my prior preamp Ayre K-1xe). I'm not sure if you can only correct a certain frequency, but maybe you don't need to?
Great sounding new vinyl
I firmly believe some pressings are better than others. I bought the "Once" soundtrack LP and it is full of surface noise. In contrast my new Miles Davis Kind of Blue is excellent. I have a number of Ryan Adams LPs which are good but not as great ...
Digital XLR vs. Analog XLR - Balanced Cables
I've played with this exact scenario a lot over the past few months. I've been using a Cardas Golden Ref analog XLR, and a Cardas Digital XLR Cable. First as has been discussed here already the connection pattern is exactly the same. Meaning they ...
Lie you told your wife to buy equipment?
Man I snuck in a phono preamp last week. The seller decided the original boxes weren't enough and he double boxed everything which made the boxes about the size of a VW bug. Luckily my wife took the kids to bed and fell asleep with the last one. I...
To bi-wire or not to bi-wire?
I've found the differences to be subtle, even with separate runs. However if you're after the best sound possible and the $ is inconsequential it does make an improvement (IMHO). If you're on a budget, you should evaluate whether that $ could make...
Looking 4 a high quality phono line stage $5k-$8k
Aptquark-What did you compare it to?
Looking 4 a high quality phono line stage $5k-$8k
Rushton-My arms terminate in DIN. My cabling is DIN (from the arm to XLR at Preamp). Since the signal is balanced to start with I would prefer to maintain that as opposed to converting in the preamp. Any other suggestions?
Looking 4 a high quality phono line stage $5k-$8k
Rushton- Thanks for your comments. I'l explain what I meant as my current arms (RB300 and Graham) both terminate in Din connectors. I have a Cardas GR phono cable that terminates in XLR so I want a phono stage that accepts XLR connectors, and is t...

Thanks Kurt! That's good info.
ROOM ACOUSTIC ADVICE NEEDED
I have similar issues and just purchased a Lyngdorf Room Perfect system. It records room characteristics using a high frequency and low frequency sounds and then "equalizes" the sound without distorting the signal. It made a huge impact for me wit...
Any B&W 802D/800D alternatives looks and sound?
I recently underwent a journey similar to the one you are emabrking on. Iswitched from 802's. I listened to many which is also what you should do. Unfortunately you probably cannot bring home 5 pairs and try them all but in reality that's what you...
Ayre K1X vs K1Xe
Kurt_tank-I am in 100% agreement with you. I personally think the K-1xe is one of the biggest bargain in audio. Other than speakers the addition of the K-1x was the single biggest improvement in my system I have ever heard by a long shot. Charlie ...
Ayre K1X vs K1Xe
Day 2. Wow!It's totally worth it.
Cary 306/200 -- Still near state of the art?
I happily owned a Cary 306/200 for about 3 years. Then I got the bug. I bought 3 players used and tried them all. I tried a Levinson 390s, a Wadia 861se (more $ but allowed me to drop the preamp), and a Muscial Fidelity SACD player I can't remembe...
