What cartridges under $800 outperform DL-103R? I have compared the DL-S1 to the 103r zyx airy 3 and shelter 501mkII side by side. Probably comes down to personal preference (and budget)as always. Here's what I heard. The DL-S1 was more refined with better resolution tighter base than the 103R....
What cartridges under $800 outperform DL-103R? I own a 103R. I also recently sold my ZYX Airy 3. While the Airy 3 was better, especially tonally, I don't think it was as much as you'd expect given the price difference. My opinion is the 103R is a great cartridge that belies it's price, as oppo...
Von Schweikert VR5SE / Aerial 20T V2 ? Scott- You may also be considering 20t's wondering if there is something wrong with them, or if I've found something better? There isn't and I have not.
Von Schweikert VR5SE / Aerial 20T V2 ? Downsizing. At their price point I doubt they can be beat. They are as good as it gets!
Von Schweikert VR5SE / Aerial 20T V2 ? I didn't buy the 5a's, I instead went for the 20t's. However one of the comments people often make about the 5a's is they are directional, same for the 20t's. I would guess those comments are overstated in both instances. I mentioned it because it...
Von Schweikert VR5SE / Aerial 20T V2 ? Fredrick21 makes great comments but I thought I would add to his concern over the directionalness (is that even a word?) of the 20t because I think it is overstated. In other words they'll take your breath away in the sweet spot which is and they'...
Speakers and Tube Amps Duke-That's great info and very helpful. However how do I determine what equipment a particular speaker was voiced on?Mike
Von Schweikert VR5SE / Aerial 20T V2 ? I've heard both and they are both world class and have a lot of similarities. The 20t probably comes off as being a bit larger which could be a consideration if you're listening room is big. Ultimately the best choice would come down to synergism ...
Speakers and Tube Amps Mapman-I'm just looking for the most realistic sounding system I can get. While my current system is pretty awesome, I can't help but wonder if something else is better. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) the only way to be sure is to try them...
Speakers and Tube Amps Atmasphere-I am confused by something. I'm going to use Wilson as the example because I am more familiar with them than some. They are commonly described as s a speaker that seems is "tube friendly". Your previous post recommends one should examin...
Anything new with digital room correction? Rives-Understood and I agree wholeheartedly. However in the case of the Lyngdorf the D/A in the room perfect or preamp (they are the same) is excellent.
Anything new with digital room correction? Rives-I was assuming Sashav has a preamp with phono or if not, and he needs it, he could add a separate phono stage. Your last post says most CD players don't have a digital in but I think you meant out which I don't agree with. Most high end one ...
SS Preamp suggestion please Look for an Ayre K-5x for around $1000-$1400. All of the Ayre products grossly out-perform their price points. You'll love it and there are no tubes to deal with. The other great aspect of it would be that you could upgrade it to a K-5xe in the fu...
Anything new with digital room correction? Rives-Your post makes it sound like Sashav and others would need new equipment which is totally false. Almost every high end CD player allows the D/A conversion to be bypassed so no one has to buy new equipment to use the Lyngdorf room correction ...
Anything new with digital room correction? Because most people spend most of their time listening to CDs or other digital formats. If digitally recorded music is kept in the digital realm there is less information lost, and a much higher end product. |
