Benefits of brand synergy I try to stick with one brand whenever possible and even try to determine what speakers and cabling they recommend as well. I figure its best to ask the engineers after all. ;)
Integrated for B&W PM1 Blackhawk wrote, "it is compact but with a big full sound that fills my 14x16 room."Does your PM1 & sub do all music genres equally well? How does the vocals sound on that speaker?
Floor Standing Speakers to Monitors and Subwoofer Johnny how does the PM1 fare without a sub?
Ever Used the Audioquest King Cobra? I might purchase the XLR version of King Cobra to replace my Acoustic Zen WOW's. I've had the WOW's for a few years and although it is sonically pleasing, I feel it imparts a bit of a muddier texture to the signal in comparison to other cables.
Rotel RCD-1072 vs Sony XA5400ES Thanks for the replies, guys. I've just been informed that Rotel has released a brand spankin' new RCD-1570. Might have to hold out for a while until I hear their new offering, which has XLR outputs I might add!
B&W 804 Diamond vs Dynaudio Focus 380 Thanks for your detailed response, Jaxwired! What did you think of the Diamond tweeter? Any brightness or harshness you noted?
Do expensive cables/wires REALLY make a difference "Instead of asking me for proof, ask for proof from the cable companies who use ridiculous claims and flowery language to sell their wares. Where is their proof? Nonexistent, because when the difference between cheap "zipchord" and expensive wire ...
Bookshelf or Tower Very interesting Bob. The one advantage I've read about in regards to floorstanders is the dedicated midrange driver. I was always under the impression that it was better to have separate drivers handle the musical information, rather than one dri...
Bookshelf or Tower Bob Reynolds, wouldn't a bookshelf speaker lose a bit of that 'fullness' that tower speakers provide? Or would monitors + sub pretty much create the same sound a floorstander would?
Which type of speaker for narrow room Have you thought about the B&W PM1 for that type of room? You'd probably need a sub, too.
B&W PM1 Wow, such a great post Johnny! Its ability to disappear and make me forget that I'm listening to a recording has me intrigued, although sometimes I wonder just how well the PM1s can handle a good old-fashioned rock song. ;)
B&W PM1 Johnny how do you feel these little guys stack up against your Mirage OMD-15?
B&W PM1 I imagine the PM1 is a much better speaker than the CM5 but I don't know why B&W didn't stick a 6.5" woofer in the PM1s!
Why do modern DACs over $1,000 sound different? You should ask this over at AVSForum ;)
Tube Preamps Agree with Bob - upgrade your speakers and keep your Rotel electronics. There's many speakers that outperform B&W's CM range. I'd seriously take a look at Vanns and find a pair of the Energy RC-70 brand new for just over $1k. They originally r... |
