PrimaLuna vs Mystere AOL, from Mysteres' FAQ section:"No, PrimaLuna and Mystère amps are not the same amps...the Mystère line has received a bit more attention for the cabinet design and that the parts used are of a slightly better level. Both good reasons for a sligh...
Rotel seperates to Anthem integrated 225? I actually asked this question around a year ago. The Anthem amp is generally considered to be more "tube-like" than the Rotel. As someone who has owned Rotel, I don't think anyone would ever mistake Rotel amps for sounding like tubes.
Sony ES vs Rotel Has anyone compared Sony's new HAP-Z1ES network audio player to any of the latest Rotel CD players (RCD-1072, RCD-1570)?I'm curious to see how they stack up in a direct comparison.
Acoustic Zen wow bright? I'm using Rotel RCD-1072. With Audioquest Copperheads ICs the sound is a bit dull and flat. After inserting AZ WOW into the mix and the CD player is more upfront and clearer. The brightness isn't a bad thing, I like the extra resolution.I don't se...
Rotel RCD-1072 vs Sony XA5400ES Zd542, both players use Burr Brown DACs but I do believe the Sony chip has much more impressive technical prowess. The spec sheet for the PCM-1796 will reveal that. It's one of BB's top-of-the-line chipsets whereas the PCM-1732 was decent but more...
Any love for Neko Audio D100 on here? I think its passive transformer gives the unit a very euphoric, tubelike sound while maintaining clarity and detail.
Acoustic Zen WOW and Sivel Ref 2 I didn't know the WOW is considered a bright-sounding cable. I've been very pleased but haven't tried mixing and matching.
Anthem Integrated 225 -opinions I've seen the Anthem get labeled as "tube-like." Has that been yours (or any other owners) experience with this unit?
Difference in B&W sound Since B&W has poor bass, is it a better idea to go with their bookshelf models and just add a subwoofer? Seems like you'd get their best virtues -- good mids and clean treble -- and just substitute their weakness with a dedicated sub. Just thr...
Anyone listened to the new B&W CM6 S2? I wonder how it stacks up against the bit more expensive PM1?
Is Quad an upgrade from Rotel? Celtic, sorry if I didn't give enough information but I was looking for general input on the sound characteristics of their gear. Just for the record, I'm interested in Quad's solid state products (I didn't even know they made tube gear), primaril...
Rotel RA-1520 vs Anthem 225 integrateds Thanks guys. I'll probably lean towards the Anthem; a warmer and less brash sound is what I'm looking for, something close to analogish. The only other "warm" sounding component I've had was a Denon receiver which wasn't too bad IMO for music. Hop...
Audioquest vs Acoustic Zen Thanks for the correction, Theduke. I think many confuse BM II as a cheaper clone of the King Cobra. Makes me wonder if the Diamondback is a better option that BM II.
Audioquest vs Acoustic Zen I've just compared the AQ Black Mamba II (cheaper version of the King Cobra) with the AZ WOW! interconnect and it was a no contest, the WOW was superior. The AQ sounded more distant, the AZ more upfront with good dispersion. It reminded me of bein...
listening in the dark? I agree 100%. Less distractions which lead to more focus on the music, not the system. |
