Should people who can't solder, build or test their speakers be considered audiophiles?
An audiophile is anyone that declares or considers themselves to be an audiophile. You don't need any approval or certification from anyone else to be considered an audiophile. And lastly, an audiophile doesn't care whether you think he is or isn't.
How Long Did It Take You To Build Your Dream Setup?
I didn't start seriously working on my system until I was 50 years old.5 years later I had my dream system. Now I'm almost 70 and I'm dreaming of new stuff again.
Magico M9 The new 'norm' in speakers
You need four monoblocks to run those beasts. I’d love to see the companion amps, preamp and sources to make those bad boys sing.Probably another $200k in cabling just to power up.
What's a better choice? Manley Steelhead Phono or Audio Research Reference 2SE Phono?
You may get more system symmetry with the Ref2 SE.
It was 20 years ago today...
Happy 20th Anniversary Viridian!Hang in there...five more years until your silver anniversary...

Why no Virtual System pics??
Looking at system photos was everything to me when I joined "The ’Gon" 19 years ago. It was an incredible inspiration for me to explore the possibilities in creating a system. I wrote to a ton of guys here about their posted systems with questions...
How do you share the sweet spot?
I only let music lovers in the sweet spot.If they're not music lovers, there's no point to it.  I have no audiophile visitors.Amazingly, my jazz loving friends instinctively make a bee-line to the sweet spot.  They've never heard the terms 'sweet ...
Does anyone collect something else other than music.
I own over 4,000 vinyl LP's.  They are openly displayed in cabinets in my living room.  Once at a party someone said that it was a nice collection.  Until that moment, I'd never considered myself a collector.  I bought my first album when I was 12...
Most recordings you own by a single artist, group, or composer
@Skyscraper:....you are so correct Sir.  I've checked on Wikipedia and AllMusic, and Lee appears approximately a whopping 90 times as a sideman.  I've got my work cut out for me.  I'm stoked!
Tube Preamp with Solid State Amp?
I've run a tube preamp with solid state amps for 15 years.  I have to have tubes somewhere in my system.
If you had to start all over again in this day and age
I'd go with smaller main speakers.I'd have at least 4 subwoofers, maybe 6.  I'd go with Class D amps.  I'd own no vinyl or cd's....streaming only.I'd keep my tube preamp.I'd spend more money on a DAC.I'd own a 10 inch reel-to-reel just for show......
Most recordings you own by a single artist, group, or composer
Lee Morgan is my most collected artist.  I have everything that he recorded as a leader that is available.I am also well into collecting everything he ever recorded as a sideman.

.Lee Morgan.-I'm on a mission to own everything he has ever recorded as a leader and as a sideman.
My list of seller red flags
I hate it when the seller posts a stock photo of the item...and no photo of the actual item.  That is just ridiculous.
