There are other forums. As an example, Audio Asylum assigns moderators to each of their asylums. There are clearly communicated posting rules and those who break them are given warnings, time off if needed, and banned permanently if they can’t get ...
Putting an end to the audio cable debate! Part 1
"The price of luxury goods is not based solely on production costs, it is dependent on the value perceived by the consumer. The pricing strategy is simple: How much is the consumer willing to pay to achieve this status, quality, and extra-ordina...
Mod Squad "Line Drive Deluxe"...
Don’t limit your options, also look at the more commonly available and more versatile TLC-1.If you ever want to upgrade your TLC-1, Steve McCormack at SMc Audio could turn that unit into one that performs very close to his highly regarded VRE-1.  ...
Speaker placement: Rug in front of speakers vs Rug underneath speakers
Awesome speakers - I bet they sound incredible!  The SF trade marked "Zero Vibration Transmission" elastomer/spring decoupling system has been designed specifically for the 300+ pound speakers.  I would think having a rug in front should be suff...
Tidal Streaming Issues
Just today, I was prompted to log in to Tidal for the first time in months but it works fine now. Still, unusual.

@bulkdevicesuk  Hello, I see you are new here so - welcome!I don’t have a good answer to your question, but for best results I recommend starting your own new thread with the title, "server hard drive needed" or similar. Post it under digital. Th...
McCormack Power Drive DNA-2 Deluxe for Maggie LRS?
Yeah, with the upgrades the waiting is the hardest part, and then the cost, until you hear the result after which the cost doesn't seem so bad, but the waiting still sucks.  However, after several projects with them, I have always been happy I did...
McCormack Power Drive DNA-2 Deluxe for Maggie LRS?
The DNA-2 is somewhat different from the other DNA amps in that it was designed by Dave Reich from Theta Digital.    The DNA-2 uses a dual mono, true stereo topology, while McCormack's other monster stereo amp, the DNA-500, and their converted ...
McCormack Power Drive DNA-2 Deluxe for Maggie LRS?
Look at the DNA-2 pictures on my system page.  Yes, it definitely has the juice and it will also provide a bit of a mid-bass bump compared to the other McCormack amps.  If you are newer into this hobby, you may do better by getting another DNA-0.5...
Ethernet cable for Streaming
That is how I started, with a short run of fiber at the end.  Consider the CAT cables are susceptible to picking up EMI/RFI and the fiber is not.  Why not just run the whole 15M as fiber with a very short CAT cable of your choosing from the second...
Ethernet cable for Streaming
CAT 8 has the best shielding and I believe maybe tighter twists - read about it here. You can also make the bulk of your run using fiber for a small cost.  Two converters like these and 45-50 feet of fiber with very short CAT 8 runs at either end.I...
Dedicated power to audio system—how extreme to go?
Good advice from MC to go with dedicated wire run for your Audio system.  Without spending big money, the dedicated line(s) should get you most of the way there, IMO.  Run the line(s) from the panel closest to your system, either main or sub panel...
Ethernet and USB cables
Regarding Ethernet (presumably to a server or streamer), there are several choices to make,https://www.thecableco.com/cables/usb-cable/galileo-sx-usb.html should you use a CAT cable or fiber optic cablewhich CAT cable to use (i.e., 5e, 6, 7, or 8)...
why do so many discussions turn contentious?
Ignoring trolls is good advice but that alone doesn’t solve the problem of losing new/prospective members who are turned off by the prevalent bickering and posturing. Disagreements and opposing opinions can be important catalysts to introducing...
