Best sub isolation?
I have had good luck with damped springs. For damping, encase the spring in thin-wall heat shrink that is shrunk just enough to define the shape of the spring....i.e., not sloppy but also not too tight. By just covering the top and bottom of the s...
Different amplifier class for different music genres?
The bigger issue IMO is the relationship between the amplifier and the speakers, the specifics of which can favor certain types of music that have different requirements for dynamics, drive, detail, and tone.  The resulting sound will be influence...
First tube preamp recommendations (under $5k)
I thought the Lamm LL2 Deluxe sounded very natural with good clarity and extension.  I would look for a used LL2 or LL2.1 - Deluxe models.
Anybody gone from ethernet to optical for connection to a streamer?
No matter what you read here, listen for yourself and then decide.  This stuff is dependent on your equipment and on your environment, including the length of run from your router to your streamer, and the amount of EMI/RFI present in your home.  ...
Single vs. Dual Subs
I agree with @mijostyn - my experience is that adding a second sub resulted in significantly better sound compared to using a single sub.  The designer of my speakers (Michael Kelly with Aerial) has commented about the benefit of multiple subs in ...
XLR (Balanced) interconnect cable question
I wasn’t aware there were so many psychologists spending their spare time on audio forums, diagnosing audiophiles. That, or there’s a bunch of people projecting their deficiencies on others. So, its ok to post endlessly here about nano particles,...
XLR (Balanced) interconnect cable question
Why am I going to want the more expensive cables to sound better? Expectation Bias, Confirmation Bias, Conformity Bias...take your pickYou can read about it all the time here in these forums....just take a look at the comment by @bewgow just 3...
Why did you choose the components and speakers that are in your system?
I will echo what most here have said, start with the speakers.  Do a lot of listening to both different styles of speakers and then different brands.  @mapman made a great point about choosing speakers that best match your room.  In my experience ...
My experience with bi-wiring
I have always bi-wired my speakers.  As pointed out in the post by @akg_ca it is important to use the same quality cables when comparing.  As an observation to the OP, assuming you used two runs of the same cable, you may have liked the result at ...
THE WORST SELLERS FOR ANSWERING QUESTIONS, Audiogon, Audiomart, E-bay.....Others
I have fortunately had just the opposite experience over many transactions for both inexpensive stuff and really expensive stuff.   I had two transactions this week and both were from USAM and both went very well with extremely polite and friendly...
XLR (Balanced) interconnect cable question
Go ahead and try other cables because, if you don't, you will always wonder - what if?  However, when listening be really honest with yourself - do the other cables truly sound better than your Canare L-4E6S cabling or maybe just slightly diffe...
Is D for Dry? Class D...
They are as long as you don't try to measure them
Pet Peeve -- why do headphone companies make the LEFT and RIGHT symbols so hard to locate
Place a small length of red heat shrink tubing over the right cable where it plugs into the headphone.  If you listen in the dark, then use glow in the dark heat shrink!
Qobuz or Tidal?
Thank you @rajivhifi I must be paying by the month since I don’t ever remember them asking for a renewal anytime over the past  several years.I will look into it more closely.
Fuse Upgrade to Ceramic not glass
It sounds as if you are trying to correct a problem not in evidence. Are there any sonic aberrations you might ascribe to a vibrating fuse?  If you hear nothing wrong, maybe there is nothing wrong.Looking at pictures of the back of your amplifier,...
