Tube Pre-Amp Recommendation Hey guys, I say "to each his own." You wanna talk about webpages, take a look at CAT - Ken Stevens has made some of the most successful and best sounding preamps of the past 20-some years and they hardly have a website! You might want to add a CAT...
A clue for the clueless Realizing you are an idiot is the first step of a 12-step program...I am on step 3.I have a question for the OP, or anyone else who knows, is the originator of an auction allowed to accept the high bid, even if it doesn't meet their reserve?
Cary 200.2/500mb vs. BAT 500 w/BAT-PAK Bill, I have owned the VK-500 with BAT PAK, the Cary 500MB, and currently the Cary SA-500.1 monoblocks, which are essentially two of the SA-200.2 stereo amps, with different input modules. All of these have pretty good power supplies and the newer ...
Hookup wire for tube amplifier? Ralph makes some good points. The OCC is a casting process, not a ranking of purity. The other point many will make is, "does it matter" whether it is OCC? The Jupiter wire is CDA-101, which is thought to be the highest purity - it is 99.99 percen...
Hookup wire for tube amplifier? I agree with using solid core copper and the VH Audio OCC in foamed teflon should be quite nice. Another consideration would be the Jupiter copper in cotton wire. IC's I have made from that wire sound excellent.
Can "Dark"Sounding Speakers Be "Brightened"UP??? I second Wilsynet and Elizabeth in that the (main) problem you are hearing may not be the speakers. As Eugene81 reports, the speakers may be midranged focused but you may be able to improve things to an acceptable level by making other changes. My...
Thoughts from Joule preamp owners? Gregfisk, I am glad to hear you are happy with the improvements from MkII to SE. I was very close to making a deal on a new SE earlier this year, especially because of some great specials available through Joule, but ultimately decided to stay awa...
Are all fuses created equal? Nick_sr,Your thread here, plus a little down time for minor surgery, got me looking further into the whole fuse thing. Here is a link with some interesting reading posted by the Roger A. Modjeski, the designer of Music Reference amplifiers.http://...
Are all fuses created equal? Fuses are incorporated in the design of equipment to protect critical parts against excessive current. A blown fuse can result from abnormal electrical surges or from issues within the equipment itself. I would contact the manufacturer if I had eq...
6Moons.com vs. Stereo Times Those here who have had a lot of gear pass through our systems know the truth to Roscoeiii's statement that"no review is a substitute for hearing a component yourself, preferably in your own system."The better reviewers have a wider range of exper...
6Moons.com vs. Stereo Times Of the two mentioned, I enjoy the pictures in the 6moons reviews. I read both for enjoyment.
Review: Cary Audio Design SA500.1 Amplifier Ok, so I now have a pair of SA-500.1s here in my system. These have been on my list of solid state amps to try that run cooler yet may approach a similar level of sonic quality as my Clayton M300s. After about a week, I must say the Cary amps soun...
10 gage electrical wire for speaker cables? hardware store 10 gage electrical wireNot sure what this is exactly but when you say "electrical wire" I will assume insulated copper, either stranded or solid.I have tried 10 gage wire, probably more than large enough for most typical run lengthso...
Review: Cary Audio Design SA500.1 Amplifier It appears Cary is going to have the SA-500.1s in their room No. 8025, on the eighth floor of the Marriott Tower at RMAF.Maybe some others will get to listen to them and comment.RMAF-Cary Audio
Review: Cary Audio Design SA500.1 Amplifier Thanks Bill for your review of the SA-500.1 amps. I have been waiting to read something on these since they came out. Based on reviews by 10 Audio and Positive Feedback Online, the stereo version SA-200.2 sounds very good but it seems Cary may hav... |
