KLH Model 6 Tweeter.
Here's one of several threads about the Model Six recap from Audiokarma. That's where I got the info to redo my Seventeens. There may even be a wiring diagram in one of those threads. I used regular Dayton poly caps.http://audiokarma.org/forums/in...
KLH Model 6 Tweeter.
Are you absolutely sure the tweeter is bad? I have a set of KLH Model Seventeen and I thought I had a bad tweeter in one of them, but it turned out that the electrolytic crossover caps were bad and needed replaced.
When did good gear start getting your attention?
My first taste of the high-end was the time I visited my friend in his college dorm, and his roommate had McIntosh tube equipment. It was then that I knew I needed something to replace my old fold-up, GE stereo. When I could finally afford it, I b...
Most of us have this in our collections ....
Take 5 is played in the unusual 5/4 time signature, which is difficult to do well, as bdp24 says. Here's an interesting experiment which transforms the song Take 5 into Take 4 (4/4 time) as well as Take 3 (3/4) time.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
So many variables with audio
Adding to the frustration is the fact that when a potential equipment purchase is auditioned, you're listening to the sum total of the system, not just the new piece. Is that sibilance or lack of midrange clarity the fault of the new speakers I'm ...
If you won the power ball tomorrow night would you
bigkidz:I'm wichoo man. A '57 Goldtop fer sher!czarivey says:"you've all forgotten to give at least half to the warlords first."You don't need to remember that. They take it right off the top!
Integrating a new turntable into existing system and having sound quality problems...
A new cartridge will not require a "much heavier" setting to break in. It sounds to me that either the cartridge is defective, or something may be interfering with the smooth vertical movement of the tonearm. Tight bearings?

Do you have the CD player plugged into the CD or Direct input? If it’s running into the CD input and sounds OK, try temporarily plugging the phono preamp into the CD input. If it still sounds bad, you’ve eliminated the amp as the source of the pro...

I don’t know why you’re experiencing problems only with the Diana Krall album, but it sounds as if you have not set the proper Vertical Tracking Force (VTF). I'm assuming you installed the tonearm counterweight which is packaged separately in the ...
Buddy Rich Swingin' New Big Band LP
Did a quick search and found this sealed copy advertised for $8.50. I have no experience with the seller. Keep in mind that there have been 14 different releases of this album. so the cover may not look just like the original.http://www.musicstack...
Your favorite BEACH BOYS LP besides PET SOUNDS
I am also a big fan of their post-"surf" stuff such as Surf’s Up, Sunflower, and Holland, and also Carl and the Passions - So Tough, which was, for whatever reason, packaged as a double with a re-release of Pet Sounds. When playing most LP’s, I hav...
Phono Stage with Two Line-outs
Hi lp2cd,I think you’ve got something there. I’ll have to check into the output specs of the MX-VYNL and check compatibility with the inputs on the W4S and Tascam, but I do have balanced and unbalanced inputs on both, so there’s an excellent chanc...
Phono Stage with Two Line-outs
I appreciate your efforts, Al. That splitter looks like a much better way to go than the typical y-cables I had in mind. Thank you very much.
Phono Stage with Two Line-outs
The Tascam is a CD-RW5000, which is getting a little long-in-the-tooth, but still works quite well. I use it to make CD's for the car and I'm not too picky about ultimate fidelity, so will probably continue to use it 'til it quits. When recording ...
Phono Stage with Two Line-outs
The Quasar has been on my radar for some time now, however the two outputs are a low and a high output. The MM input provides 50 dB of gain, which should work well with my Denon DL-160 @ ~ 2 mv, but the low output is listed in the specs at 220mv, ...
