Ry Cooder recommendation... He was in an early band with Taj Mahal and Ed Cassidy (drummer with Spirit - Randy (California) Woolf's stepfather. Not sure if the LP is still available.
What kind of lamp to use with a stroboscopic disc? On my iPhone 6 Plus I use the app StrobeLight by Motionics. You can adjust the speed of the strobe so it is very helpful
Upgrading Turntables. Stick with Rega? Regas are good at what they do - play LPs. A set it and forget it turntable. I have owned a P5, P7 & a P9; all very good at their price points. Regas knock is the adjustability of the TT. No VTA without putting spacers under the arm, no az...
VPI Scout Set up I had my dealer set up my Aries 3x3 and unfortunately it was not set up to the optimum specs. Become familiar with your Prime tone arm and make the effort to set it up on your own, or at least double-check your dealers work. May I suggest a Sou...
Feedback through turntable Feedback does not happen when sub is out of the loop. I do realize the inserts on the mini-HRX feet are rubber - still contemplating replacing those with Symposium inserts. One other point of contention - the bearing/bell housing on the 3D arm. ...
VPI Scout Set up Ortofon cartridges match well with VPI tone arms. I had various Regas (P5, P7 & P9) prior to my VPI Aries 3x3. At first, the 3D tone arm was intimidating but once I read and understood cartridges set-up geometry, it all made perfect sense an...
Class D is just Dandy! Back in 2008 I bought a Rotel RB1092; a Class D 500 watt/ch amp. At the time it was the most expensive piece of equipment I had ever owned. It served me very well until 2010. I sold it to my B-I-L and was working 100% until I packed up after hi...
Classic 3 VPI I suggest running two belts in tandem. With my Aries 3 I am running 3 belts - no start up issues or belt squealing. The way to apply powder is put belt in plastic bag, shake in talc, seal and shake around. Remove belt, blow off excess powder and ...
Feedback through turntable I can but WAF won't allow. Plus an +85 lb TT on a wall rack - would not feel comfortable.I put the REL B1 on an isolation base and this even helped more.
Rega RB2000 - Bearing Play If bought from a reputable dealer then it will be covered by Rega - you should not have that much play. I have owned 3 Rega tables in the past (P5, P7, & P9) and none of them had a bearing play issue.
Help with Rega tonearm Which turntable? P7 had the RB700; not sure what the P5 had. P9 had the RB900 and RB1000. Vinyl Engine could tell you what model of tone arm with which table.
Feedback through turntable No issue when sub is out of the picture. I have moved the sub to a location 15' from the TT to a non-corner in the room. At high volume I still get some feedback thru TT but, at a higher volume than before. I have moved my speakers, also, perpe...
Class D = Trash? I had a Rotel RB-1092 that served me well with Dynaudio Audience 52SE speakers. I enjoyed that paring quite well.
Very Bad purchase from upscale audio Acoustic Zen Adagio I have bought a few items from UA. One item I had an issue with (a phonostage) and Kevin immediately remedied the problem, plus threw in a second set of tubes (4 total).
