What’s really hurting the audio hobby?
In the Bay- Sacramento area there are several good dealers.  One such dealer has Audio Note, Quicksilver, Jolida and many other brands, plus consignment and vintage/used gear.  I will go there and often there is one to a half-dozen regulars listen...
Coda 8 amp
I highly recommend Coda and I too am looking at the NO 8 as a possible amp contender - waffling between Pass Labs and Coda, both of which have great reviews. My brother-in-law has had Plinius, Bedini, lots of vintage gear, tubes and prefers his Cod...
Speaker advice for listening to Blues music
I am listening to the album Monkey Medicine right now on my DeVore Nines and I think it sounds really nice.  The Gibbon 3xL might fit the bill in your 12X12 room.  You can find stellar reviews on the Gibbon 3XL by Devore.
upgrade from Devore Nines
@thosb I had read all the positive views on Devore and a pair come up fairly close at a stellar price.  I decided there was not a lot of risk if I needed to move again.  I have really liked the DeVore Nines.  My friend who loves and owns Harbeths ...
Aurender vs. Roon
In case anyone is interested, I was able to integrate Sonos connects without issue after messing with for a couple of days.  In short, connects should run wireless and not share the same router  (wired) as the Rock.  I am not sure why that is, but...
Aurender vs. Roon
I had an old NUC around I hadn't been using - about a year ago I bought a Macbook Pro and the need for a windows based system is no longer needed.  Today I updated the BIOS, formatted the drive and made the NUC into a Room Rock.  I have the Room R...
Best bookshelf speakers
I think you should throw as much money at the speaker you feasibly can to prevent the immediate upgrade bug.  Selling speakers are a pain and I consider speakers furniture/art.  Depending on your room it is one of the 1st items people see.  My mai...
Duelund internal speaker wire?
I have had many recommendations I replace the internal wire in my vintage speakers with Duelund, but have not at this point.  I have used Dueland as speaker wire and thought it was very good. So depending on the speaker, I think it could be a good...

"Tiny companies" that buy drivers from OEM driver manufactures such as Seas and Scanspeak, which are held by larger companies, seam to do just fine in R&D. Not sure if you call Devore 'tiny' but they buy some of their drivers from Seas and the...
Best bookshelf speakers
I have green mountain audio monitors on Skyland stands (EOSHX), driven by a oppo 105 and LFD integrated amp.  Anyone in the SF/Sacramento area can come by for listen. If they can be found I recommend the Callisto speakers.  I have seen them used fo...

@audiotroy Quad is affiliated with IAG as is Audiolab, Castle Acoustics, Luxman, Mission, Quad and Wharfedale.  IAG creates and Quad uses as do all the other brands part of IAG.  I am curious how these loudspeakers differ, or a they just the same ...
Gallo Acoustics
I had Gallo 3.1s and finally sold them.  I didn't have the bass amp, so cannot comment on that feature.  I did however experiment with the 15 Ohm resistors tweek found here http://www.10audio.com/gallo_ref3-1.htm.I didn't like the 3.1s because to ...
Green Mountain Audio Chroma HX Review
@kenjit it is quite common for companies request specific drivers be custom made. You think most speaker companies make their drivers in house?  I believe Zu uses  Eminence drivers as do several other companies, but I am guessing they are not avai...
Does this image give you claustrophobia?
Not sure why - reminds me of a original Star Trek bridge pic.
Speaker recommendation
@bigkidz How do Vandersteen speakers sound off axis? I am concerned they only sound great in a specific position and I rarely sit in a specific position. I have been on the edge about Vandersteen Treo, or if the price is right 5s
