Mounting Triplanar Tonearm to SME 20/2 Turntable
Looking at your table and arm, you could take a hole saw and cut some arm mounting blanks out of different materials- wood, acrylic, aluminum, whatever. Cut a slot and you will be able to swap them out without even having to disconnect the phono l...
Mounting Triplanar Tonearm to SME 20/2 Turntable
Take your time. Big mistake everyone makes is thinking they can figure it out or take advice and do that and be done. Which you certainly can do. But you will be missing out. Because this is not rocket science, nor is it even science at all. Or ev...

I don't buy speakers to look at them. I buy speakers to listen to them. Most of the time in the dark. So a few reviewers will have to miss out on waxing poetic over inlaid multi-layer strain-relief unobtainium solid wood matrix laminated curviline...

Why not just drill the hole where you need it??But yes, tape will be just fine. Possibly maybe even better. In fact the main drawbacks to tape are its a little harder to tweak into position, and then also to remove, depending on how permanent the ...
Audiodesk pro with only water
Ultrasonic cleaning machines definitely will work with just plain water. A lot of what cleaning solutions do is keep the crud cleaned off in solution so it doesn't just stick back on the record and will rinse off easier. A rinse with a little extr...
Is ground noise really normal? If so, why?
Well white noise is a thing. Like pink noise only with more treble. Dead silent is a thing, its the complete absence of noise. Near is a thing. It means close but not quite there. So yeah I would say near dead silent white noise is a thing.

Right, I was mixing this up with the other parts upgrade they have. Cardas terminals, "mil spec" (whatever that means) wiring, upgraded caps, etc. The reviews I'm seeing are ranking these up there with speakers ten times the price. So many differe...
Is ground noise really normal? If so, why?
A certain amount of noise is indeed completely normal. What is a completely normal amount of noise for vinyl is also a lot more than the near dead silent white noise you and your kids are used to from digital. (That the digital signal is itself no...
SME and OL tonearms....
Having lived with and compared a few tone arms certain things stand out. Bearing in mind its always possible to make something be the best even in spite of inherently less than perfect design (see: 911) still inherently superior design helps a lot...
Why do Classical CDs sound less Alive/Real/Present ?
In a word: CD.
SME and OL tonearms....
I can highly recommend moving on up the Origin Live line. Their Conqueror has served me well for over 10 years now. If I were ever to upgrade it would be to another Origin Live, without hesitation. No idea how they compare to SME, mine was an upgr...
Which speakers have rear firing speakers and how do they sound?
What do you mean? Rear-firing? Or di-pole?
Need help identifying these speakers purchased in 1992
The mystery is, why? If they work, then its really a mystery. If they don't, then its either a driver or a crossover. And either way it doesn't matter who made the speakers, you'll just replace the bad driver, caps, terminals, etc. All of which can...

Tekton is top of my speaker upgrade list. Technically, Tekton IS the list! Lol! Moab, Moab Be, Ulfberht. That's about it. Their low mass midrange approach is the first really promising new thing I've seen in years. Even better, it actually seems t...
What is this?
If you have a volt meter you might try checking continuity and resistance from the RCA (just one??) to the pins on the headshell fitting.
