Home Theater Done Right: Millercarbon's System
Thanks, Skip, for the info. Researching these things turned up catalogs and spec sheets and its just like you said they are rated in kV, thousands of volts. Which stands to reason, being as they are trying to insulate high voltage lines, and in al...
Near field speaker setup
Thanks for all the feedback. Nice setup millercarbon, that took a while to drink in! Im onboard with the "every little thing" in sum does matter. Im using an apple laptop -> Tidal -> Yggdrasil DAC -> Naim Nait 5i setup. Very happy with th...
XLR USA TO EUROPEAN-WILL IT CAUSE DAMAGE
The simplest most direct and ultimately correct answer is if the plug don't fit, you must acquit. Oh wait sorry that was the lawyer. If it the plug fits then use it. Electrical standards vary from country to country but the one thing you can alway...
Small Office - Wilson vs B&W vs Kef
That size room? Tekton Ulfberht. I hear they disappear.
Tube Rolling Time
The key to tube rolling is to use well balanced tubes with nice flat sides, tubes like KT88. Those roll really good. Rounded tubes like 300B wobble and roll all over the place. D105, don’t even ask. 12ax7 seems like they would be okay but the wide...
It appears I am in need of an EQ
She says there isn’t enough bass and the 20 year old in me gets that. However, I don’t want to change out the electronics or the speakers or add a subwoofer... Impossible. You do realize this, I hope? Because otherwise put your gear on Craig’s Li...

Best Musical Sub... Originally posted in 2014???
I am not happy with the bass in my system. Not happy at all. Elated, would be more like it. Beside myself. Beyond my wildest dreams. Better than anything else I ever heard anywhere ever. But keep in mind, that is only compared to all the other old...
Roon's update sounds really good
I wasn't sure myself at first. But now with a full day to burn-in....
SME V and cartridge spacer
Everything affects the sound in some way.In what way, you ask?You tell me.
Near field speaker setup
Why do you find this surprising? The #1 key to imaging is simultaneous arrival. Speakers in phase and perfectly equidistant is mainly what does it. This is why you can hear imaging from a laptop. Move the speakers too far apart and two bad things ...
Are big subwoofers viable for 2 channel music?
luisma31-And again I'm not trying to promote my subs, PSA, rhytmik, excellent gear which I respect, but (again) quantity (4 or more) and ability to integrate them is more important than the actual brand. millercarbon, first post-With subs it is no...
Speakers that sound great in terrible rooms
I remember running into an audiophile who refused to consider anything about room acoustics. He bought speakers specifically for live, untreated rooms. Anyone else? What was your solution? Solution to what? You never met anyone who was happy wi...
When you’re not here who will inherit your system?
slaw-Someone that won't appreciate it.Right. It would be hard to find anyone even capable of hooking it up and operating it. They would plug it in and for once the ninnies would be right and it really would burn the house down.
